I recommend checking out Arumba's video tutorials, I found them extremely helpful to learning how to play. This is a game where also just watching someone else play for a few hours can help a ton (Arumba also has let's plays on his channel, also recommended). http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH-huzMEgGWBz8XAD77YTwMe6wx-Ql_Ao

I've played the HL2 demo and enjoyed it. I was going to buy it during this summer sale, but I doubt it will be any cheaper than it is now. So if I've never played anything but the demo, what do you recommend I do? Buy the whole series and play through in order? Or would I be fine buying HL2 on it's own?

I would buy the whole series. Play HL1 via the Black Mesa Source mod (they essentially recreated HL1 in the HL2/Source engine). Then play the HL2 series in order. You're in for a treat!

F*ck out of here..This game is 2 years old, it should be in the $20-$25 price range by now.

FinalFighters
Why do you guys refuse to learn how supply and demand works? If there are people paying $40 consistently for the game, what incentive is there for Bethesda to drop the price to $20?

The amazon copies are steamworks? Doesn't that just double up on DRM, since the game requires uplay, anyway? I would think amazon's copies would just be straight up uplay downloads.

the_bi99man
Yes it is double DRM. However, you have a choice of a uPlay copy or Steam copy. If you don't want the double DRM, choose the uPlay copy. If you want it to activate on steam, choose that version. I see no problem here.

My AC3 folder (steam install fwiw) is 18.4gb. No, the game is not worth getting and I'm disappointed I wasted money on it. Should have waited for a steam sale.

[QUOTE="shuknight"]

I find it funny that most of you newcomers think that just because YOU haven't heard of the game = the core game is boring and dying.

My god if that was true then Call of Duty and Diablo 3 must be the best games on this planet.

rattboy666

Newcomers? I got an NES in 1988 for my 5th birthday and haven't stopped playing consoles and PC's since. Infact, not only have I been playing games since then but began developing mods for games as early as Quake 1 in the 90's. Lol, not for nothing dude, but speaking for myself, I'm definitely not a "newcomer".

EDIT: this is why you don't try and edit a post on a #$%^ing iphone.

He's talking about newcomers to ARMA2, not video games in general.

600 people played ARMA2 before DayZ came along. ARMA2 was always niche and never popular, at all. Now over a million people play it. bonafidetk
You poor thing. 2 million posts on BI's official message boards (611k of which are in the ARMA2 section) beg to differ. Like kozzy said, the game never sold 5 million copies like CoD games do, but BI has always had a strong and dedicated community. Marek Spanel said dayz increased ARMA2 sales by 500%. DayZ has roughly 1 million players. This means ARMA2 sold 200k copies (these are simply estimates, but close enough) before DayZ existed. Again, not record-breaking numbers, but 200k sales is nothing to scoff at.

It is because you accepted them in the past. Groups will crawl other large groups with "similar" interests and invite truckloads of people. Just leave all the groups you don't participate in and they'll slow down.

[QUOTE="Croag821"]I think the pre-load is the only benefit on steam, not 100 percent sure though.wis3boi
there were tf2 hats :P

That was a while ago. As of right now, there is no benefit to pre-purchasing except pre-loading.

[QUOTE="supertrooper23"] f that then. this is why i wont download it. ill just wait for skyrim. DevilMightCry

Sad that not everyone in the world speaks English as a primary language? Go to hell.

I speak fluent German, and I think it takes away from the narrative considering Oblivion was mainly english. When I played Metro 2033, I played it in Russian. It really depends.

Nehrim's narrative is completely unrelated to Oblivion.
