I feel like the people who are saying its overrated have only played single player with bots. The game is not meant to be played by yourself, it is meant to be played with 3 other people at least. The AI is terrible, I will agree with that, thats why you don't play with AI, you play online like its meant to be played. Competitive versus and scavenge are the two of the best game types I have ever played in any multiplayer game. And the crap about how its overpriced... give me a break. I was sceptical at first too when they announced it only a year after the first. I have played the living crap out of the first one and I can tell you that the second one is better 10 fold. I will never go back to the first one. There isn't much obvious change, most of them are under the hood. Alot of balancing and tweaking went into the game and I fully appreciate all of it. I would gladly pay 50 bucks for the game, plus I have seen it as low as 25 dollars on Steam, you know why? Because Valve cares about it's customers. I personally got it for 33 bucks because I pre-ordered the 4 pack with 3 friends. And if that is not enough Valve supports it's games like no other company. They have already announced an entire new campaign with new weapons and infected for early next year, FREE OF CHARGE... for the PC that is. (Microsoft is communist)

I know, I know, L4D2 is very prevelant and a lot of people play it, but I honestly feel it is not getting the respect it deserves in the gaming community. I have never enjoyed, or been more satisfied with a game in my life. I can literally sit in front of my computer and play L4D2 for hours on end, while games like MW2 or Killzone 2 (both up for best competitive multiplayer) I get frusterated with in around an hour and have to quit. I realize L4D2 is up for best competitive also, but we all know it is not going to win. I am just glad Gamespot recognizes that it is good. L4D2 is a far better game than MW2 in my opinion, I bought MW2 for the Xbox 360, which it is supposed to be best on, and as soon as L4D2 came out the next week I have barely touched MW2. L4D2 did far more in terms of revolutionizing multiplayer than MW2 did. MW2 is just the same old thing, while L4D2 created an entirely new competitive multiplayer, well I gues L4D did, but 2 builds upon it greatly. Out of all the games that have come out this year I can easily say that L4D2 is my favorite.

I remember playing Halo for the first time when I was 13 and thinking, this is the greatest game ever made. Apparently it was good enough for Bungie too, because they have released that game 3 more times and are preparing to release it for a 4th time. Every single Halo game has had the same weapons, the same characters, and the same enemies. The only one that didn't was Halo: ODST, which was an insult to gamers everywhere. Even then Bungie isn't creative enough to come up with original characters, they had to steal their main characters from Firefly. The fact that Bungie expects us to pay 60 dollars for every Halo release disgusts me, when most of the time it feels like the budget of the game was 50 dollars. They slap a few additions to some guns, change a few of the levels around, and spit out the same exact multiplayer maps over and over. The Left 4 Dead franchise has changed and added more in 2 years than Halo has in 6. It disgusts me that Bungie outright abandoned ODST saying they will not release DLCs because they are "too busy" with Halo: Reach. I can't imagine thats possible. If you make a crappy game you should support it and try to make it better not abandon it. Look at Blizzard, they continue to make the greatest games ever made and continually support all of their games with patches. Bungie is the worst company in the world, and Halo is the worst franchise in the world and I am sick and tired of people supporting their do**hebaggery.

[QUOTE="prowler666"]

so what do you think?

SOURCE

edit: if you ask ME, i was ready to bet that US army was funding this game. it really smells a bit like propaganda :)

but seriously, i enjoyed it. it was purely entertainment for me. you shouldn't mess games with politics.

U.S. Army propaganda? MW2 makes the U.S. Army look like a bunch of idiots.

I didn't like the end of Bioshock. I think it should have ended after you killed Ryan. It seemed to drawn out to me.

For me it depends on what type of game it is. If it is something like Modern Warfare 2, I want it to look as realistic as humanly possible. If it is something like World of Warcraft, I love the fact that they have their own cartoon-y art style, it makes the world a lot more rich. That is the problem with most MMO's is they go for too much detail and realism and the worlds become dull and drab.

[QUOTE="BenTheJamin"][QUOTE="Rekunta"]

Gamers today were not alive when Vietnam was happening, I doubt any would be emotionally bothered by it more than say, WWII. The jungle setting wouldn't turn people off either.....Crysis takes place in one.

LordXelNaga

I'm not saying it would provoke an emotional response in gamers, I'm just saying that we are told over and over that Vietnam was a BAD war while something like WW2 was a GOOD war. I think this has, to an extent, some affect on us subconsciously. The part about the jungles I guess is just my personal opinion, when I have played other Vietnam games, I have gotten tired of just a repetitive dreary jungle atmosphere.

Yeah, games are only really worthwhile if they're from "good" wars (and by good that actually means wars that America actually managed to win)

Does no one understand what I am trying to say? READ guys. @roadwish too.
