9600gt has worked great for me on everything except Sims 3 (played Crysis, UT3, Fallout 3, all on high settings)... Sims 3 crashes every 7-10 minutes. Looks beautiful until then though :P

So 9600GT is ok then.... the 9500GT is the crap one right? God, I can't keep up with all these numbers...

I can't remember which one is the crap card... Seems every go round they release some pos with a very close name to their higher quality card but at a budget price :P

I've seen quite a few quality games on PC over the last couple years. Yeah, not as many exclusives due to consoles being more on par with PCs in graphics capability, but a good game is still a good game regardless of whether it's exclusive or not. I could also see PC games coming back to the forefront as consoles get more expensive and PCs get cheaper. Manufacturing costs and economic troubles will make this generation of consoles last longer than previous generations, while quality gaming PCs get cheaper to build.

Anyway, I'd wait until a patch is released.

Mine crashes to black and I have to manually reboot it while I'm creating a Sim. Usually happens after 5-10 minutes of flawless play. Seems to be some kind of conflict with the audio driver as going into dxdiag and turning the sound acceleration down to standard from full fixed the problem temporarily. Rebooting my computer after an unrelated update though brought the problem back. Quite a few people have this problem. When I did get to play, my only initial complaint was the amount of customization content that has to be purchased seperately. You get 1000 free sims points ($10 worth) to buy some of it back, but still a lot was left out in order to cash in on microtransactions. Also, there's no hot tub for some reason.

No one is getting paid "twice" for the game. Just once for each person that wants to pay for it. 1 payment for 1 game. The math isn't that difficult. The OP didn't get robbed, he's just mad that he didn't pay close enough attention to what he was buying.

Morrowind is much bigger and more difficult (more depth though). I actually stopped playing after getting lost in the woods for hours and losing track of where I had to go for my quest. I hear there's mods you can download though to add some of Oblivian's more convenient features into the game. So, I liked some of the mechanics for Oblivian better, but Morrowind has a deeper story, more side quests, bigger world, and much more variety of scenery. Also no scaling enemy levels, so leveling up means more ;-)

I like the graphical improvement, and the changes seem like something I'll enjoy, but I can't really say much because it's a buggy mess. Crashes to a black screen after about 5-10 minutes of trying to create a character. Also, from skimming the official forums, it seems a lot of people with 9600gt and 9800gt cards have similiar problems. My Windows error report mentioned something about the driver, though I updated and still had problems. Probably have to wait until EA releases a patch. The microtransactions are pretty greedy. They withhold quite a bit of decorative content for their online store, not even waiting to package things into an expansion. $1 for a new haircut... $0.75 for a new pair of pants... if you have a Sims adict in your household who has a tendency to impulse shop, keep them away from the credit card :-P You get 1000 free points ($10 worth) when you purchase the game and register, so at least you can get some more stuff into the game without paying. Also, the exchange (free user created content) is pretty easy to use so there will probably be free stuff just as good to make up for it pretty soon.

So, how does it compare to The Sims 2 with expansions? Seems like opening up the neighborhood will provide for a more robust experience right out of the box.

As a "true" rpg it seems kind of weak. There's not much exploration for an rpg, and the towns are pretty boring (lots of houses are scenery only, and the characters outside of the party are pretty weak). I still like it, but doesn't hold up too well compared to some other games in the genre. I also get a little tired of the old silent expressionless protaganist act, but that's a minor gripe since most rpgs do it. Haven't gotten to the expansions yet.

Hard to say. Just start with the cheapest parts to replace and work your way up, I guess.
