@DeveloperDre Fair enough. I remember Sandler on Cosby. Goofy smile there even then.

Again, knowing that I haven't played the game, answer as you see fit.

If you have seen the movie Watchmen and read the graphic novel, you will know that the graphic novel is a stinging critique of violence, while the movie tries to be but, unfortunately, glorifies violence (Rorschach's in particular).

Is it possible that the reviewer is saying that the satire just wasn't pulled off as well as she would like? I mean, would a fifteen year-old playing the game recognize that this was satire, or would they think that these guys are simply cool? It takes some maturity to recognize that Michael Corleone is not a bad ass, but a deeply evil man. Do you think that the audience of the game could miss the point because Rockstar made some errors?

Again, I am not saying this is the case, having not played the game, but I wonder if it explains the docking of a point?

(Side note: you called me earlier on not seeing the same articles about hot women as another poster. I still see links to articles for cancer and heart disease. Am I looking at the wrong page here?)

@iampenguin @Archimedes777 The f*ck you was directed at specific people, not you and me. I didn't for a second feel like Johnny was attacking me. The point of Feedbackula isn't to point out the intelligent things people write, it's to parody the dumb things.

@iampenguin You watched a different video than I watched. Johnny didn't attack people who were critical of the review, he attacked people who attacked the reviewer. Personally attacking a reviewer because you disagree with them is ridiculous.

@DeveloperDre As I said above, albeit more angrily, I will play the game. I am not defending her review, but I am defending her right to say it. I also have no problem with you vehemently disagreeing with her (or me) and pointing out why. My problem stems from the way that some members of the community made personal attacks because they didn't like the review.

@DeveloperDre

Maybe you should stop attacking my lack of playing of a game when we are discussing critics, not the game. I don't care what score the game got. I think it looks cool, and I like the decision to have three protagonists, so I will play it. I will wait a couple of months, though, as I have other games to play.

As to your other point, well, here is Ebert on Adam Sandler:

"The basic miscalculation in Adam Sandler's career plan is to ever play the lead. He is not a lead. He is the best friend, or the creep, or the loser boyfriend. He doesn't have the voice to play a lead: Even at his most sincere, he sounds like he's doing standup -- like he's mocking a character in a movie he saw last night."

That is a bias. That suggests that Ebert isn't going to like Sandler's comedies in which he plays the lead no matter what. That's fine, but to suggest that somehow he was doing something different than all critics is just wrong.

I have all kinds of respect for Ebert. He admitted when he was wrong, and he even changed some reviews when he reassessed a film. He was, however, a biased reviewer, as all reviewers are.

If I have misunderstood your point, I apologize in advance.

@DeveloperDre I intend to. I can't speak to the game, and I think I've made that abundantly clear. I am more interested in talking about the way people have reacted to a reviewer's opinion of the game.

@DeveloperDre It is funny that you mention Ebert because Ebert demonstrated all kinds of bias as a critic. His job was to tell you what he liked and why he liked it. (Look at his reviews of Adam Sandler movies.) If you as a viewer disagreed, that was okay. A lot of people agreed with him, which is why two thumbs up from Siskel and Ebert and, later, Ebert and Roeper was such a big deal in the movie industry. Before the internet, they really could make or break a movie.

@Scarab83 I guess what I am getting at is that portraying men negatively is not necessarily demonstrating misandry, if those men are still in a power position. Portraying women as prostitutes and objects for men to toy with is misogyny. In such a case, the two really aren't balanced.

@Scarab83

I am more interested in the secondary male characters. Are there any portrayed positively?
