@estorski @Act_Chill You are probably the only person who knows that there was a King's Bounty game in like 1983 before there was heroes of might and magic, but around the time of the first might and magic. The new King's Bounty is such an upgrade I wouldnt even say they are the same.

@DecapitatedOrc King's Bounty took a big chunk of the Heroes Might and Magic formula and with "small" changes made it feel like a different game. They made you feel closer to the hero and the story line, but at the end of the day it was the same turn based combat. The first King's Bounty and then Armored Princess were great. I played through twice! But the Warriors of the North wasnt as good or maybe I am starting to get tired of the formula. It is basically new maps and new heroes, but same exact mechanics and graphics. I think this game series has been under rated and there is very little coverage. I didnt even know Dark Side came out until today!

Emulators for previous generation of consoles and all their games are available for PC on top of all the old PC games. Several years into a console cycle, the PC looks a lot better. The PC is better, but it costs $1000 for a great system, however, it can do more than just games. I archive my vacation photos, do work at home, manage finances, surf the internet (much better on PC), stream anime (better on PC), and a ton of other things. "Free" stuff using bit torrent.

@GrahamZ Each reviewer has expectations on what a 10 is or expectations on graphics, sound, and what they believe is fun. If they believe the graphics are 8/10 they may not have started at a 10 and created a detailed list of all their graphics issues and the amount they deduced for each thing to bring it down to an 8, but what their expectations are is what a 10 is and falling short of that makes it a lower score. By default, a score lower than a 10 is missing something and therefor what is missing is causing a subtraction from 10 to get the lower number.

Alternatively you can say the culmination of all the positions is what gives it an 8 and that all games start at 0. It is all perspective.

As far as MoM goes, most games had glitches and crashes were common back in the day. PC games even today are released with glitches. Later patches fixed all the bugs. Game even works great on modern computers with Dos Box. No issues. Day 1 issues can be annoying, but to me if the game is fixed in the first month I am satisfied enough. Never fixed for takes a year to fix (Diablo 3), that is a different story.

@troll_eat_troll @Act_Chill Are you trolling or serious lol. A game starts at a 10 and score is reduced based on short comings in a variety of attributes. Some break it down as graphics, sound, game play with a little bit of originality mixed in.

@randy4069 Must have Master of Magic 2....stupid copy right issues. The game is worthless as a money maker, why not give the gamers what they really want.

@blackadderDAAN So far the Age of Wonders game is the only thing I have played close to Master of Magic. So many people have tried to build a game like it and they have mostly failed. It really doesnt seem hard to update some of the spells, perks, game mechanics, and graphics to bring such a great game to the present, but apparently it is....

@mariocerame The only negative thing the reviewer listed was "races are not different enough". He listed many positives. If that alone was able to drop 3 points from the score, he should have given us a walk through of the race stats and or units to say something like "this archer has 30 attack and since he is an elf it becomes 31, which doesnt help at all" if the base attack is 5 and the unit gets +1 that is kind of a big deal. Since we havent been able to play the game yet, we cant give you specific reasons why it should be higher.

@PrinceMiskin I agree that when a reviewer gives a score below 9.0, there should be a list of negatives. At 7,0 it should be more than "there is not enough differences in the races". He didnt go into the magic system, available racial differences, etc. The review seemed shallow.

I watched the whole review and read the article. The only thing he mentioned as a negative was lack of differences in races? That makes it a 7.0? Thinking of the ultimate old school 4x game, Master of Magic(MoM), each race had subtle differences with the main one being their top tier units were unique as in this game? If elves get +1 attack for archers and orcs get -1, it becomes more efficient to go all mostly melee or mostly archers even if they can build the same units. In MoM, most of the units were common among all races and same with heroes. What helped MoM was the combo of racial bonus, magic element picked, perks, and the randoms champs you had to fight for you. In Age of Wonders 2, there were several elements to master. The review didnt go into the magic system much. Also, can you customize a race?
