Yes, Hydra is easy to kill. Just come up to her, dodging all its projectiles, stay with Ur shield up and cut its heads when it goes melee. And uh... if someone needs help, pm. Difficulty is exaggerated, game is fair enough, no matter what NG+ cycle U are on. Skeletons die forever if You kill their overlord pyromant somewhere in the area OR if You kill them with Divine Weapon, which is made by Undead Parish Smith (Andre) after U give him divine ember. Divine Weapons kill skeletons instantly.

Your friend indeed was right if he was brought up on old horror-games. It's not like co-op kills horror element. It's about how devs use it. First of all, co-op was always looked upon as arbitrary element, addition to singleplayer. And if 2 guys blaze their guns, game is not that hard, right? Disbalance comes and gunplay is easy, no fears. Then, both players see the same in game and this is another bad thing. I think that making characters interact on distances, or not directly, while facing horrors and when there are traps like "oh it seems i reunited with my friend *scary face*/game over" would be much cooler and all that. Plus, no one tries to scare You now in the first place. You know, back there in RE2, i had to run through undying zombies (cuz they were like bullet-sponges) and finding even a little ammo made me happy. And zombies were not flashy, they were slow, dangerous and hard to kill, which built suspence.

Fatal Frame, for sure. I personally think that big part of indie-horrors use rather cheap methods of being fearsome, so i didn't feel anything from playing Slender and Amnesia. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. It's not even about horror, but the context. Game is made with talent (especially when it comes to player's choice) and there is that background, which makes you feel emotions and connection to the protagonist. And the ending, yeah. Forbidden Siren, RE 2 had its scares for me (that moment with grabbing hands, for example).

Wow, nice list.

I would name some of the FFVIII:

1. Adel, floating in space "chamber". Felt extremely surreal and mystique

2. Time compression, the whole sequence starting from fight that long falling CG

3. Whole Disc 4. Ah, that castle.

4. War of the gardens, when Galbadi assail Balamb

Apart from that, end of FFT and that moment when in FFIV Cecil returns to town he had invaded before and everyone hated him as a dark knight.
