in the uk it was 165,000 in the first day and 600,000 in the first weeklonghorn7
Seeing as the UK didn't even have 600,000 units to begin with; false.
HDMI is what most tvs use for 1080p. You can do 1080p through VGA though, and sometimes component (not all the times)FlawlessSeasons
HDMI looks better in 1080p then VGA and component though.
The core is still 299, the premium is still 399, you are not required to own an Elite for any 360 game or service and most people don't have any use for it. On the other hand the PS3 still is 200 more expensive for it's low end model then the 360's low end model and still 120 more expensive for it's high end model then 360's high end model.
So, no. You're point isn't valid.
How is this milkage? We aren't forced to get that machine in anyway. I'll break it down for you right here:
- 120GB is unneeded. You can store downloads like demo,s trailers and such on you're PC HDD. And before you even have 20GB filled it will be a while and there is most likely all sorts of crap on you're HDD. But you if you even want more you can just store it on you're PC HDD.
- HDMI isn't needed to play the X360. You can even play the X360 on SDTV's. It doesn't require you to play on a HDTV, let alone a 1080p one. Above that you can also play on you're computer monitor through VGA, or HDTV through VGA or component cables up to 1080p.
- There will be no games that are only playable on the Elite.
- There will be no games that load/perform better on the Elite.
So, tell me please, why is it exactly that I need to purchase this? Oh, you have no good answer? Yeah, I didn't think so.

If anyone can remember the PS2 had a price drop in the fall of 2002, from $299 to $199 and already had $20 games(Greatest Hits) in just two years on the market. So technically it only costed $250 to play a game on PS2 Vs Xbox $350+ after tax to play a game on that console.
I think this whole elite thing will hurt Microsoft if they dont lower the price this fall, because right now Sony's low end is looking like a better deal then Microsofts highest SKU.
PS3 is $499 with blu-ray, HDMI and interchangeable 20GB HDD(Theres a 160GB HDD on newegg.com for $110)
360E is $20 cheaper with no next-gen video format, HDMI and a 120GB non-interchangeable HDD.The lower SKU PS3 looks like a better buy if you plan on a gaming/multimedia experience. MS is simply stupid if they don't lower cost on X360s whole lineup by atleast $100 to keep the PS3 looking over-priced. I think its not hard to do with the newer refined CPUs and system sellers like: Halo 3, GTAIV, Lost Odyssey, Bioshock, Mass Effect will push off the line:D
So my predictions for this fall is for MS to lower all of its SKUs by $100 or face demise:
Core: $199 or discontinue - I personally think they should keep this SKU because the sight of a Next-gen console for $200 equals a steal in my eyes
Premium: $299 - Even if the Elite stays at $479 this SKU should drop in price so that they have a good, well priced alternative to compete with their own Elite and Sonys Core SKU
Elite: $399What do you think of this idea? I say it could work.

Uhhh... the low end PS3 doesn't have HDMI, nor WiFi and no possibility to upgrade to any of them. And the HDD of the X360 is interchangeable.
