Final Fantasy XIV PS3 players will be able to transfer to PS4 for free
Square Enix also confirms PS4 beta for the relaunched MMO game will begin on February 22, 2014.
Square Enix has confirmed that PlayStation 3 owners of the recently relaunched massively multiplayer online game Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn will be able to transfer to the PlayStation 4 version for free.
Character data will transfer between versions, Square Enix adds.
A beta for the PlayStation 4 version of the game will begin in 2014 on February 22. Sony announced earlier today that this will be when the PlayStation 4 launches in Japan, about four months after the console is released in North America and Europe.
"Essential work to increase the number of servers and strengthen the service environment, with the aim of alleviating the crowding on existing servers is also in progress," adds Square Enix, referencing the continuing server problems the relaunched MMO game is currently suffering from.
Last week Sony offered full refunds for those who purchased the game via the PlayStation Store, before digital sales of the over-encumbered MMO game were suspended.
