BioShock DLC zaps PSN

It was a long time coming, but Take-Two's critical darling BioShock proved to have the same subversive charm on the PlayStation 3 as its Xbox 360 and PC counterparts released last year. Sweetening the deal, Take-Two also opted to supply PS3 gamers with an exclusive batch of downloadable content, laying out the how and the how much earlier this month.

As part of Sony's weekly content update for the PlayStation Network, that exclusive DLC is now available for $9.99. The pack adds three multiplayer-map-like "Challenge Rooms" to the single-player only game, each presenting a timed mini-scenario unrelated to BioShock's main plotline. The rooms will also take place in all-new areas of Rapture, the undersea utopia-gone-horribly-wrong where the game is set.

Also previously telegraphed, EA has rolled out a slew of add-on packs for its survival horror shooter Dead Space. The add-on packs range in price from $0.99 to $3.99, and give gamers the chance to expand on their deep-space isolation with new looks and enhanced capabilities for various weapons and suits. Speaking of new looks, Sony has also released free of charge a community costume for Little Big Planet's iconic Sack Boy. This free garb is in addition to the $2.99 LocoRoco costume kit that is also now available.

Rhythm games are in no short supply of new downloadable content this week. For Guitar Hero World Tour, faux rockers can pick up a three-song Raconteurs Track Pack for $5.49. The pack includes "Consoler of the Lonely," "Hold Up," and "Salute Your Solution," and songs can also be purchased individually for $1.99 apiece. Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2 sees five new songs added to its library this week. "(I Just) Died In Your Arms," "All You Wanted," "Black Hole Sun," "It's Not Unusual," and "September" can be purchased for $1.49 apiece.

Weekly contributor Rock Band has a suite of new songs added to its expansive library, as well. Mission of Burma lends three tracks to Harmonix's four-piece rhythm game: "That's When I Reach for my Revolver," "That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate," and "Mica." From the Dead Kennedys comes "Police Truck," "Holiday in Cambodia," and "California Uber Alles." Also available is the Century Media Girls of Metal Pack 01, which comprises Crooked X's "Gone," In This Moment's "Forever," and Lacuna Coil's "Swamped" and "Closer." All tracks are available individually for $1.99, or as part of their respective packs for $5.49.

Lastly, following on from Capcom's seemingly inadvertent dating of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for Microsoft's console earlier this week, the publisher confirmed the game's PSN launch date of November 25. Capcom's hallmark fighter will run $14.99. As to the question of trophies, Capcom responded, "Not at launch."
