The game has plenty to offer for Naruto fans. And even if you're not a fan there's still solid gameplay to enjoy.

Naruto fans will enjoy this game but the appeal of Ultimate Ninja doesn't stop at just fanservice. The gameplay is more like Fatal Fury than Street Fighter or Tekken in terms that there are multiple planes. One in the background and the other in the foreground. And it delivers the kind of fluid and responsive controls a fighting game needs. It's also not too easy or too hard. To pull of your character's best attacks, you need to be do well in a button pressing minigame. If you press all the buttons in time you'll deal more damage, but, your opponent can also do this same thing to decrease the damage you deal. This is a pretty good mechanic that increases the skill involved in a match. The story mode lets you play through the land of waves and chunin exam story arcs with your favorite character as the hero. The mission mode has you working your way up from Ninja Academy Student to the best by completing missions(I'm captain obvious). Now I think I should mention that Ultimate Ninja isn't perfect. The visual style is unique but it's also a little too rough. The character roster also isn't diverse with only 14 characters. In the end there's plenty to enjoy wether you're a fan of Naruto or not.-Dan B. Jr.

Concept 8.5: A Naruto fighter that can be enjoyed by more than just Naruto fans.

Graphics 7: The visual style may be unique but it's also a little too rough and as a result, it's pretty average. Luckily there is no slowdown and the framerate's pretty smooth.

Sound 7.5: The soundtrack and voice acting are pretty decent except for naruto's voice actor.

Playability 8: The fighting system is more like Fatal Fury than anything else and the game plays pretty well.

Entertainment 8: You don't have to be a Naruto fan to enjoy this but you still will if you are.

Replay Value 8: The game's worth playing for a long time.
