It's a fun MM game, but is too frustrating at times for it's own good.

User Rating: 7.5 | Mega Man X8 PS2
This game has the fun run and shoot and platforming elements of the other Mega Man games, but it's very frustrating at times too.

This game allows you use,Zero and Axl as characters.X's long range weapon can charge up powerful energy blasts.Zero's sabre weapon is powerful but can only connect up close(leaving him vulnerable).Axl is better for the platforming segments.

Most of the game's challenge will come from the platforming segments instead from enemies. Many platforming segments are very frustrating and if you just touch a spike,it will mean instant death and it feels like Axl is almost a necessity for some platforming sections.

On the easy difficulty, the game will give you unlimited lives, which is a good feature so you don't have to redo the levels before a boss fight if you die a few times against a boss.

The game uses 3D effects for it's graphics while still playing like a 2D side scroller. You can once again search for suit upgrades and choose which levels you want to attempt and use the weapons you gain from defeated bosses to make other boss fights easier.

Some of the enemies can be giant robots.

MMX8's artstyle doesn't look as nice as some of the MM games from the past. The game isn't ugly,it's decent looking but it's artstyle lacks the colorfulness or creativity of the past MM games.

Also, the MMX8 platforming segments slowed the game down too much due to their difficulty and they require such delicate timing it makes the game frustrating at times.

The game is fun but not as good as MM games from the past.
