"I wanna take you for a ride"
Alright to start off with this review I'll go ahead and talk about the bad aspects about MVC2, here we go:
-Hard ball - If you're ever playing arcade, which I bet you have, you'll instantly notice this game is absolutely unforgiving by round 3..... on Normal difficulty! this game will massacre you and not care. I mean there isn't any reason for a game to be this hard AND it even has a higher level of difficulty on top it's unbelievable, it really takes away the fun and enjoyment of the player and brings frustration instead with lots and lots of hair yanking. Same with Online, there are just too many good players out there that you just want to hope you get someone who is at the same level as you. Yes this game is hard.
-Roster - There are some characters (like hulk, juggernaut and more) which are of no good use really and some who don't seem to fit into the gang, like this little tiny dude. (Forgot his name) might as well include Bolt the dog. Also, picking the same character all three times is lame.
-Screen confusion - most of the times a fight can get so fierce and fast, like it always does, that you don't even know where you're character is and god help you if you don't figure it out quick because you'll get heavy damage if you don't. Also, when you jump, you JUMP. You go so high up that all you see is the background and not the other player and the other player only sees you jumping, sure there is the marker showing the other player but it's hard to land a hit on him you'll mostly likely get hit.
-Other - I hear people complain about the soundtrack, specially the woman singing in the character selection lobby, only repeating the same phrase
"I wanna take you from a ride" but in my OPINION, it's alright, a nice vive to it.
Now with the positive aspects:
- Good value - For only $15 bucks (now $7.95) your money will be well worth buying this game but it will actually give you more for that price!
- Just Pure Fun - nevermind the graphics, as long as a game is fun to play with others and have a blast! then that's pretty much all you need, I think that's what a game has to be about to make it great! As I mentioned on my Killzone 2 review, sure KZ2 has amazing graphics and all but it was NOT fun for me at all, I couldn't enjoy the gameplay because the controls were "heavy" and I did not get used to them. Everything seemed like it responded late. MVC2 has a lot of heart and a lot of energy to entertain you for hours and hours, I was liked when a game pauses for a moment when performing a special move and have the character doing the special show up and unleash an insane attack. MVC2 is very flashy and hardcore at the same time with crazy combos and specials, purchase is not an option, it's a must.
