What is overhyped and a pain to play? I know!

User Rating: 8 | Marvel vs. Capcom 2 PS3
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is an old game that has been remastered for the PS3 and available for download at the low price of 15 dollars. I downloaded the demo and since there was only local multiplayer to judge the gameplay, I felt that the game was pretty fun so I passed up Resident Evil 2(MY FAVORITE GAME!) to buy this instead. Oh, what was I drinking at the time?

When I first loaded this puppy up I noticed the huge array of characters. I felt like a kid in the candy store! I was skeptical about clone characters but when I played, each character was different offering a wide array of playing styles. When I started playing, each character felt balanced and with the exception of a few (*cough*HULK*cough*) everyone felt useful.

Arcade mode was very difficult for me on Normal. The characters block constantly and do 5 specials in a row when not attacking. It dampened the experience and made it somewhat un-enjoyable. I would advise anyone to make sure they set the game on easy if you've never played this game before. Normal is like Guitar Hero or Devil May Cry normal. I'm a hardcore gamer and I got ran over in arcade mode. I'm not even going to try and lie to you guys! lol

After playing for a while I noticed two things ultimately wrong with this game besides the cheesy music. I don't know if the special system is suppose to be set up like it is but the computer would use specials multiple times, and back to back as if it was just a regular move. Another huge flaw in this game is the lack of any real modes. As far as the game goes to me, there is just Arcade mode, training, local multiplayer and online. Not only is this a huge disappointment for a solid fighter but just shows pure laziness on the developers behalf. Even a survivor mode would have sufficed.

Overall, for 15 dollars, I guess you can't complain too much. Not any much more for the price but you just get your money's worth and not a penny more. This game is wayyy overhyped but if your just looking for a game to play around with and not engross into a deep and eventful game, then this is definitely for you.
