User Rating: 5.5 | Mario Bros. NES
Mario made his debut in Donkey Kong in 1981 in the arcades, and soon became a well-known video game character. So in 1983, Mario left his girlfriend and that big ape, and took on the role of a plumber. With the debut of his younger brother, Luigi, him and Mario went into the sewer pipes to stop the turtles, crabs, and other little animals from getting through. The game was not as successful as Donkey Kong, but was still somewhat popular. This was on the Atari 2600, the 5200, the 7800, and the NES. Nintendo wanted the game to live on like other titles. Just like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and other arcade hits. And like the games that were just mentioned, Nintendo added it to be downloadable on their Wii Shop Channel.

I downloaded it because I thought it would be just as fun as it was when it was first released. I was a little right, but also a little wrong. Mario Bros. may be an old-school style arcade hit, but almost 25 years after its release, it doesn't seem to hold up as well. It as not aged well as some people who are fans of the original Mario Bros. You can get this game for $5.00 off of Wii Shop, but it seems kind of like flushing that $5.00 down the toilet. I didn't like this as much as the Donkey Kong game from Wii Shop Channel.

You're better off getting another big arcade game like Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and so on. Don't get this game unless you're a big fan of Mario Bros, like I am, or you have it for your NES, 2600, etc., or if you just wanna waste 5 bucks of your life. It's okay, but not so great after 25 years...
