Absolutely brilliant. Easily the best cricket game ever made.

I'd like to start this by saying that I nearly didn't buy this game due to reading a large number of bad reviews. Now, it is clear to me that the reviews I read were either written by people who know nothing about cricket, or nothing about cricket games. Thank God I rarely rely solely on the advice of others...

I have played just about every cricket game ever made, and I reckon that International cricket 2010 is BRILLIANT. The new third person camera brings you as close to actually facing each delivery as is possible in a game, and just about every aspect of the game is better than any cricket game to come before. Let's cover all the points that actually matter...

Timing - Probably the most important aspect of a cricket game is the timing. Ashes Cricket 2009 failed completely in this area, resulting in a pretty game that wasn't worth the price of the box the disk came in. International Cricket 2010 on the other hand, has got it perfect (tip: execute each shot as soon as the ball starts to dip ;) ).

Commentary - A lot of reviews bagged the commentary in this game. Clearly they haven't watched much cricket... Unfortunately the voice acting isn't terrible, that's just the way cricket commentators sound! Granted, some comments are repeated a lot, and there are some errors, but nothing to get your knickers in a knot about.

Graphics - Another annoying thing that many reviewers share is the ability to compare cricket games to the current standards set by FIFA Soccer... NEWSFLASH: This isn't FIFA! This game looks brilliant when compared to every other cricket game I've ever played, and that's all that matters.

Tutorial - Many people appear to have struggled with the tutorials. Granted, if you don't know cricket terminology and field positions well, you may have difficulty completing the tutorials. However, if you know your cricket, you shouldn't have any difficulty using the tutorials to effectively learn how to play the game.

Batting - Stacks of fun. It has a huge range of easy to execute shots off both the front and back foot, and you will be destroying your opponent as soon as you get a feel for the timing.

Bowling - Brilliant. Batsmen actually respond to bowling tactics! It is probably still best to bowl using the stadium cam, but it is also cool in third person. Granted, you will get slapped around a bit, but carefully bowling to a plan will get you wickets.

Fielding - Mostly automatic. Catching is pretty tricky to get the knack of, but you CAN master it (tip: try to press the button at the very end of the orange part of the meter, if you wait for the green you will drop it. ;) ). You can also choose which end to throw to.

Bottom Line - If you love cricket, you would be some sort of fool to miss this one. Do yourself a favor and ignore reviews written by people who don't understand the game. This is the best cricket game ever!
