Golden Sun is one of the best RPG games to be released for the Gameboy Advance. The game starts off with a young Isaac waking up in the middle of a storm in his hometown, Vale. During the storm, a boulder comes loose and destorys the house where Felix, one of Issac's childhood friend, lives with his parents & sister, Jenna. Because of what happened Felix's house, everyone thought Felix & his parents along with Issac's dad were all dead. Three years later, Issac along with Garet and Jenna are joined by the elderly scholar, Kraden, to climb up Mt. Aleph to explore the Sol Sanctum. During their trip, they find the Elemental Stars. Each of the Elemental Stars represents a single element-fire, water, earth, and air. While getting the Stars, Isaac & co. find out that Saturos & Menardi started that storm three years earlier during a raid on Sol Sanctum and that they saved Jenna's brother, Felix. After Saturos & co. leave with three of the Elemental Stars, Isaac & Garet are chosen by the Wise One, the guardian of Sol Sanctum and Vale, to stop Saturos's group from lighting the Elemental Lighthouses. Along the way, Isaac and Garet are joined by Ivan, a young Jupiter (wind) Adept who can read people's minds, and Mia, a beautiful healer from the snowy town of Imil and one of the last members of the Mercury clan who are sworn to protect the Mercury Lighthouse. They travel the world to stop Saturos's group from lighting the Elemental Lighthouses & prevent Alchemy from returning to the world of Weyard. Alchemy is composed of four elements. These elements are Venus (earth), Mercury (water), Jupiter (wind), and Mars (fire). Those four elements are also the four elements of Psynergy, which is the form of magic in the Golden Sun games. People who wield Psynergy are called Adepts. All of the Adepts are aligned with a certain element. For example, Mia is a Mercury Adept. So she can use water and ice Psynergy along with healing spells. To boost your characters' elemental powers are creatures called Djinn. These Dijnn can what effect Psynergy abilities your characters can use or the Djinn can be used as summons. The graphics for this game are great for a GBA game. Also, I love the music for this game. The main thing about this game that annoys me is after a monster is destroyed & one of the characters that was targeting that monster goes automatically into defense mode. Another thing that I don't like about Golden Sun is the time to complete the game could have been longer. Despite the length of the game, the story is very good. Golden Sun & its sequel, The Lost Age, are great and enjoyable for any RPG fan.
