Geometry Wars is back, and more addictive and more seizure inducing than the first.

User Rating: 9.5 | Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 X360
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved may be one of the best XBLA games around. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is even bigger and better than the first. There are more game modes and multiplayer has been added.

Geometry Wars 2 has the same gameplay we know and love. It's a dual-stick shooter, where you move with one stick and fire with the other. There are six game modes, Deadline, King, Evolved, Waves, Pacifism, and Sequence. Deadline and Evolved are very similar, however Deadline has a 3 minute time limit, while Evolved is the classic Geometry Wars. King has you moving from circle to circle, because you can only fire in the circles. Waves has you battling waves of dart enemies. Pacifism is based off of the achievement in the original game, so you cannot fire. Sequence is a game mode where there are scripted scenarios that get more difficult each time.

Geometry Wars 2 introduces some gameplay tweaks. Instead of racking up a multiplier by destroying enemies without dying, you have to collect geoms to build up the multiplier. This makes it easier to get to a million points. You only have one firing mode in this game as opposed to upgrading it in the original game. Also, you get a life and bomb every time your score goes up 10x. For example, you get a life and bomb at 100,000 and another 1,000,000; etc. There are also new enemies to fight.

Overall, Geometry Wars 2 is everything the first was and more. You get more bang for your buck here. Geometry Wars 2 sells for 800MS points on the XBLA.
