Good expansion but far too short.
Heart of Winter is a good expansion to Icewind Dale. It not only adds an extra whole part to the game but if you play the original with it installed lots more special items are to be found. Whilst these extra items ar... Read Full Review

One of the best RPGs ever made! This will keep you occupied for ages!
Icewind Dale is based north of Baldur's Gate in the region of Icewind Dale and starts in the small village of Easthaven. Whilst it looks and plays very much like Baldur's Gate it is more focused on the combat and action ... Read Full Review

One of the bests role-playing games!
If you love RPG, this game is for you. If you don't, it does not matter, play it and you will enjoy it. Game Play: At start, it seem to be difficult because of the character's creation, but after that, it's just plain f... Read Full Review

This is the game that got me into the D&D gameplay!
INTRO This is a game that has a soft spot in my heart because it was the game that began my love for D&D role-playing games. The game has its roots in the Baldur's Gate series. Many similarities can be seen but the tw... Read Full Review

Not at all the Baldur's Gate Lite I had heard it described as.
I was really pleasantly surprised by how good Icewind Dale was. I was a huge Baldur's Gate I and II fan, but left IWD sitting on my shelf for years b/c I had assumed it was nothing but a hack 'n' slash version of my belo... Read Full Review

A solid but brief expansion to a fun dungeon crawler.
Icewind Dale was a fun dungeon crawler; so Black Isle thought an expansion would be a good idea: enter Heart of Winter. Heart of Winter can either be set during Icewind Dale (if you so choose) during a full game or after... Read Full Review

An absolute classic: Few RPGs, in my opinion, are as well written, as well balanced, and as fun to play.
The venerable Bioware Infinity Engine housed many a great game, including the original Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, the amazing Planescape Torment, and of course the Icewind Dales series. While none of these games la... Read Full Review

A fun hack n' slack rpg, completely independant of the Baldur's Gate series.
As you check reviews about this game, you'll hear a lot about it not being like the Baldur's Gate games, but thats for good reason. This game isn't Baldur's Gate, and it wasn't intended to be Baldur's Gate. Therefore, it... Read Full Review

Well written and programmed and a decent story too. Good Job
The only draw back is that I was playing this game while waiting for Dungeon Siege to come out and once Siege came out I was done with Dale. Not because anything was wrong with Dale it’s a very strong computer D&D RPG. ... Read Full Review
