36 Years Ago today, Star Wars opened in theaters. since then they have done 6 films. Books. Comic Books. Action Figures. 4 different Animated Series. an Animated Movie. Lego's. Video Games. plus a ton of other merchandising and this past year Disney bought the rights from George Lucas ans closed Lucasarts in the process. 36 years is quite a feat and yes, i am a huge Star Wars fan.

I remember having a Star Wars PC game about 10 or 11 years ago that I didn't really know how to play :p all i remember is my character (who you couldn't see) was speaking to Chewbacca on the ship :P

Imo Disney has become real nasty and tyrannical lately, maybe not entirely, but at least in some ways/some aspects. And that is the definition of baaaad. Since Disney's a powerful enough company to like, do whatever the hell they want.

I hope they let them do their own thing like they do with Marvel, they own Marvel and yet Marvel movies are now better than ever.

Agreed with the original trilogy thing though I got them on my hard drive.

Fun fact: The Avengers is the highest grossing Marvel and Disney movie of all time in 3rd place behind Titanic and Avatar. Going by reviews it's also one of the best Marvel and Disney movies.

Disney wants Star Wars to get high gross in the box office just like Marvel movies so that's one of the reasons they bought them.

Oh we know that is going to happen. They want to make a new Star Wars movie EVERY YEAR. They are going to put Star Wars characters on EVERYTHING just like they do with their own characters. Thati s what Disney does, and Star Wars has been a money making machine for more than 30 years

They picked a good director. I mean, if you want to get down to it, the story and script for Star Trek was not that strong. JJ Abrams got A LOT out of it, though. He made something memorable with it.

About that, the main ones comes in 2015, 2017 and 2019, the spin offs are in the even years of 2016, 2018 and 2020 that would focus on side characters. The spin offs surely won't get as much hype as the main ones.

No. I mean Lucas himself. When he started adding in scenes to the movies and editing other scenes to be stupid. Thing like Greedo shooting first and Hayden Christhensen being in place of the original Darth Vader in the final scenes of the last film.

I approve of his 1st Star Trek movie and I'm looking forward to Star Trek Into Darkness this month. And since he's directing Episode 7 I even have more faith in the movie.

I hate Lucas for altering Star Wars so many times. He even destroyed some of the best moments in these movies.

And Laserdiscs are f***ing huge!

While I agree, I am not going to throw any insults Star Trek's way. You know why? Because Star Trek is still pretty damned good. I have 2 of the 3 seasons of the original series, and I enjoy watching them quite a bit.

Stick to the original trilogy and not the newer ones. That will spare you the wooden acting, the bad dialog and the painful scenes. The plot holes. Teh overuse of CGI. All of it. Just....ugh...there is so much wrong with the 3 new movies.

I did like Episode 3, though not as much as 4-6, but 1 and 2 are pretty bad and Episode 1 is one of the most disappointing movies ever made.

Soundtrack is amazing in all of the movies though.
