Xbox wins August NPD

The platform holder confirmed that the Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US for the month of August, giving it two consecutive months in the top slot. This is a really big deal; Xbox One has out-performed PS4 less than ten times over the 33 months since both consoles launched.

Yep, Xbox One Slim is going to sell nicely initially to a lot of people who are interested in UHD Blu-ray, but once that dries up we will see if the demand is still strong going forward and especially come November once the PS4 Pro comes out.

I know NPD counts digital sales now but I don't like how they don't show which system sold the most games. Or am I missing something. But it's been a horrible end of summer for Sony. I'm sure they sold enough to keep them afloat for awhile though.

FH3 was a best in show level game at E3 and that upscaled Gears looks mighty sweet on the S.

Both games were critically and financially successful as they both won NPDs and sold millions when they released.

Yup. I will go back to my before launch of X1/Ps4 in 2013 prediction, that is recorded on a podcast. The difference in the end will be less than 10 million consoles between both X1/PS4.

Not surprised. With No Man's Sky being a disaster and PS4 really having nothing notable releasing until Horizon in February there's little reason to buy one right now if Uncharted 4 or Bloodborne wasn't already enough to sell someone on it.

Better than zero games from MS.

Gonna have to sell more then a couple million to pay for those budgets.

MS squeaks by with a few thousand ahead of Sony in the US after three years of getting their a** handed to them.

Sony, as usual, takes the rest of the world.
