LJN was just a Publisher and I don't think Philips actually had any internal studios
Â
EDIT: In fact, aren't all of these publishers?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Spark Unlimited is definitely on my list. Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Legendary were both great ideas on paper, but they SOMEHOW managed to crash and burn on the execution.
THQ maybe some great games. They shouldn't even be on the list.
LJN was a publisher. They released Karate Kid game (made by Atlus), which was actually pretty good for back then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Karate_Kid_%28video_game%29 . The did release a lot of crap as well, like the Back to the Future games and Friday the 13th.
Acclaim was a developer and publisher. They too made some decent games like DAve Mirra BMX, Aggressive Inline Skating, Mortal Kombat 1 & 2 and Re-Volt to name a few. Yes, they made a lot of crap games too.
Phillips manufactured the CDi (Compact Disc Interactive). They released some education and gaming CD's for it, but the price of the unit was $700. Huge waste of money. It was released in 1991 and died in 1998. In 7 years they only sold about 570K units. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philips_CD-i AS a game system it was crap. Their game pad controller sucked badly.
Who ever made two worlds. And if someone lives near their headquarters, go there and tell them I want my money back.Ghost120xGood grief, what a garbage game.
[QUOTE="lamprey263"]Silicon KnightsZevianderThis. They get taxpayer money to build sh!t games. "but, but, they made Legacy of Cain" (17 years ago)... interesting tidbit I read about the development of that game, Silicon Knights was so delayed with it that Crystal Dynamics grew frustrated, had to send employees to Canada to finish the game for them, afterwards they didn't want to work with Silicon Knights again, they decided to develop the next game without them

Wow...that's pretty cool.

They also made the remake of MGS1 on Gamecube. The twin snakes
Those guys who made that one game that blatantly stole stuff from other games.

Are you referring to Limbo of the Lost by Majestic Studios? I can hardly believe I remembered the game off the top of my head.

but it had the most epic ending ever

Some small time no name dev that maybe made one really obscure game during the 8 and/or 16 bit era with barely functional gameplay.
Something like that I'd guess.

What did  I just watch?:|TC LJN and Acclaim were basically the same because Acclaim purchased LJN in 1989 but LJN still published games.

remade, more like porting an 8 year old game to the GameCube with slight changes, and Konami was also involved in the creation of music, character models, and cutscenes, while SK worked on the coding, and new voice acting was added, remaking the same game with slight improvements doesn't say as much as coming up with an original game, story, gameplay mechanics, and such, I'm not one bit impressed to the point I give Silicon Knights much credit for this like they made a new unique entry into the MGS series"but, but, they made Legacy of Cain" (17 years ago)... interesting tidbit I read about the development of that game, Silicon Knights was so delayed with it that Crystal Dynamics grew frustrated, had to send employees to Canada to finish the game for them, afterwards they didn't want to work with Silicon Knights again, they decided to develop the next game without them[QUOTE="lamprey263"][QUOTE="Zeviander"] This. who knows how much they actually made, Crystal Dynamics had to finish the game for them, it's not a mark of honor when that happens, happened to the LA Noire team and it was a mark of shame, same with 3D Realms and Nuke Nukem Forever[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"][QUOTE="Goyoshi12"]

I actually dislike Twin Snakes because it's a shell of what MGS1 was and doesn't retain the same atmosphere. The re-done voice work is WAY fof too
Ill say lgn just because they are in alot of avgn episodes. Now I think about it I kind of hate bioware because I think they chose to go the wrong direction with Mass Effect, but they probably are far from the worst.

Watching that probably shaved two years off my life.
