Witcher 3 sold more on PC than PS4 and Xbox One combined - Developer

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt did quite a brisker business when it came to the PC version, compared to the console versions, according to the game’s developer. CD Projekt RED has said the sales for the game overall have been a great success but there is still clearly more of a demand for the game on the PC than the PS4 or Xbox One. This is most likely due to the fact that PC gamers are still usually getting better graphics than what either of the consoles can offer.

Essentially, PC gamers will buy anything, even of the developer has sold out and given them a downgraded console port with inoperable controls on their native input.

But but but I can bet that even Witcher 3 will sell better on Consoles otherwise I'll delete my account ( said some fanboys ).

Anyway,,, it's hardly a surprise. And from the very first moment, we stated that PC version will surpass Consoles because Console sales are mostly front loaded.

The other reason is that most of the fans of the Witcher franchise are on PC, since it originated on PC and Witcher 3 is the only one that released simultaneously on all platforms.

Games like these also sell better on PC, while blockbusters like COD and stuff sell better on Consoles. Bubububut Denuvo.

It's always been a PC centric game. Either way, I bought it for PS4 and I loved every minute of it.

That and there's like 2 billion Steam accounts. Amount of PS4 and X1 out there are small potatoes compared to that.

Bu-but without consoles, Witcher 3 wouldn't have existed! :D Just came here to mention Cyberpunk 2077. Please remember who your players are and dont make this a dumbed down game! Honestly I don't care how much they made from any one platform. I'm just happy they made enough money to keep on doing what they do best and pave the way for Cyberpunk 2077.

we have no money because we have to spend £1000 per month on hardware upgrades.

And that's probably because the franchise was once a PC-exclusive. Gamers who don't game on PCs most likely never even played (or heard) of Witcher 1 or 2

There are way more PC gamers today than current console owners, so it's not all too surprising. I wouldn't have guessed more than both combined though.

Can't say that I'm surprise at all, Witcher 3 was the best of the best on PC despite the downgrade. PC gamers has increased dramatically over the years, right. For those on the fence, this only gives them more inventive to build a PC. Especially if playing online is free. Not to mention the fact that building a PC really is not complicated.

I update my PC daily. In fact I don't even have time to play games anymore, because my PC is always getting tweaked with new hardware.

Except in this case, the console port ends up being the most ambitious entry into the series. And the PC excluisve first two games are bird shit.

Well, that makes the PC version an 11/10 ^_^

I'm also sick of being hunched over at a desk and tiny monitor with a mouse and keyboard, I wish I could sit on the couch with my TV. Also I spent 12 hours today updating my drivers and tweaking graphics settings in games.

If you want steam overlay: Add a non-steam game. Select Diablo III.exe in the game's folder. In your library, right click Diablo III -> Properties -> Set launch options -> type at the end of the path -launch.

Prototype UI had me worried. Hopefully they'll scrap it and will make a proper PC-RPG.

Many games on pc sell more than console combine in their lifetime. Just look at the games with modding support.

Good, hope they don't forget who their main audience is when their developing Cyberpunk.

My problem is this: I was playing Starcraft II in sweet 21:9 aspect ratio.

But I waited to finish all the games campaigns until Legacy of The Void was out. Bought that, now I found out that Blizzard patched out 21:9 because it's considered cheating online.

Odd, the game was excellent on the Xbox One. Maybe, just maybe, the platform had nothing to do with whether or not TW3 was a great game.
