Witcher 3 sold more on PC than PS4 and Xbox One combined - Developer

It's pretty lame yeah. I mean many people play FPS and RTS on multimonitors and 21:9 aspect ratio and with gamer mice and whatever. I don't consider any of that cheating. I mean I'd still get my ass beat if I were to play SC II online :D

I still hope that a program like widescreen fixer or flawless widescreen will find a workaround :)

If console gamers made a thread everytime the console versions of a game outsold the PC version, this whole board would be nothing other than those threads.

Daily driver installing? What daily driver installing? The last Windows Update I had was Feb 3, 2016 and the computer is on 24/7. The last Nvidia driver I installed was 7 days ago and that is the most frequent driver I update. Plus, I'm not compelled to update a graphics driver just because there's a newer one out.

You have problems if you're installing drivers daily. I don't update unless there's a problem or I'm just bored. He He.

It was a translation error. Witcher 3 sold more on pc in poland (which isn't surprising, as barely anybody has a console)

I think this one is only really being brought up because of the last few threads on this were painting PC sales in a very negative light. Saying all multiplats etc. only sell well on console.

The hell?? PC has far better visuals and can play the game at 60fps and even higher, depending on the hardware. On consoles it's capped at 30 fps and is known to dip below 20. Just what kind of "downgrade" are you talking about?

You are the clueless one. PC gamers were whining that the game did not look like it originally did because it downgraded to run on consoles. That has nothing to with whether the PC version is superior. Then CD Projekt Red laid the smack down and said the game would not exist in its current state without consoles. Then hermits shut up.

I guess I don't even know what Starcraft is to be honest so not I'm not being a sore loser. I thought we were talking about recent game. And that still does refute the fact that the vast majority of AAA games sell better on console. Generally the only time an AAA game sells better on PC is if the franchise started off as a PC exclusive.

But the game is NOT a downgrade. Witcher 3 is a stellar game in its visuals (among other factors) and really shines on PC. Hell the game is acclaimed as the current graphics king... just how is that a downgrade??

This is nothing like what we've seen from Ubisoft, with Assassin's Creed Unity or Watchdogs as an example.

Ok, I can get behind some of that, but then they put a screenshot from the 2013 demo on the back of the box. I read that without consoles, they wouldn't make the game as huge and open world because they wouldn't have the profit potential to sink the necessary developers investment cash..In other words, if it was only PC, you would get a game that's more optimized for PC, but less epic. I have a new theory; without PC development, they could focus exclusively on consoles and fine tune their efforts to make a great console game, without PC holding it back. As in, there's more money in consoles ultimately, and therefore cannot be ignored.

The best game on PC is also on PS4. Unlike Xbox, PS take and don't give. lol

Wasn't there an issue with the source video where the subtitles didn't include the mention of Poland until it was brought up and added later? Can't fault people for not knowing the language and going by translated subtitles.

Most other sites didn't include the part about poland, but they also interpreted it as being the Witcher Franchise than just TW3

Slight problem with that analysis, from the previous TW3 sales thread, it was established that PC made up 30% of sales, now of course that means the combined console total is 70%, so no one is denying that at that point in time consoles had sold more copies of the game. Then you need to factor in that 50% of their profits came from digital sales (1.3 Million on PC at that point in time).

So which platform is more profitable and which do you think would be more attractive to an investor, if one or two platforms were to be dropped entirely? Remember at the end of a financial year, every company in the world is more interested in net profit than sales figures.
