Will a good console JRPG ever be made again?

I think it's been pretty good so far.

Sure, there could have been some more of them but the quality is there.

Games like Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, Trinity Universe, Resonance of Fate are all high quality games.

On the Handhelds you can bascially pick up a random game and it would be a high quality JRPG.

Persona 4, Valkyria Chronicles (although an SRPG), Tales of Vesperia, and Resonance of Fate were all excellent in my opinion. I'm hoping WKC2 can be much more than its predecessor.

Lost Odyssey was simply amazing, best console JRPG since FF7/FF8 imo.

Its a might long list and its the 4th post. From all thats listed it seems they tried to fix things up.

For the classic rpg guys that want a focus on grinding, secrets and dungeons, they have Blue Dragon

For those out there craving a heart-touching story spanning across an enless journey, we have Lost Odyssey.

And finally for those that want something revolutionary in the gameplay department, ideas that may not push the genre forward but give it a diagonal step to the right, we have The Last Story coming up.

Truly Mistwalker is dominating the genre this gen on consoles, with Tri-Ace right behind them.

Indeed, Lost Odyssey made me feel like when i was playing FF7-9, none other has come anywhere close to that this generation

VC is a strategy RPG, a mission based game, and DS is more of a WRPG style game (in fact is more WRPG than some WRPGs)

So, they are good, but nothing like older JRPGs like FF7-8-9, different gameplay, style etc etc etc

Ahhhhh, I just remembered I haven't finished Resonance of Fate yet. Great game right there.

Story is a little difficult to grasp (considering it doesn't carry a very heavy overarcing storyline), but still lots of fun.

Demons Souls Completed it 'cause it's amazing

FFXIIIYuck, yuck yuck. Completed it 'cause i didn't want to let Square Enix win.

Blue Dragon Meh, it was ok,but very bland. Third disc

Lost Odyssey Actually pretty decent, but i cba, third disc

Star Ocean Yuck, first disc about 2 hours in.

Infinite Undiscovery I forget, but i enjoyed it.

Last Remenant Keep meaning to play it, but it's not compelling enough, 3 hours in

Enchanted Arms Horrible game, 2 hours before i wanted to kill myself

Eternal Sonata It looked pretty ... pretty boring 5 hours

Tales of Vesperia It was good but it fell to the bottom of the pile, 5 hours

Resonance of Fate Honestly haven't gave this it's time. Im about 3 hours in, the battle system is interesting, but i don't like placing titles to move

White Knight Chronicles Shouldn't even exist

I probably have a couple more, but all in al JRP's have failed this gen, and i don't see them getting any better, anytime soon

valkyria chronicles was the last great jrpg i played. i'm sure eventually someone is gonna make another classic

OMG VC was awesome, I never played the game tho, it's the only anime that I got into, even though I found almost every anime boring, especially Naruto/Bleach crap.

Oh and I have the game, it's new and still sealed, tucked away inside my game collection, hidden, I just don't have time to play it.

I have only played 2 JRPGs this gen, and i liked both, Eternal Sonata and Valkyria Chronicles, maybe i don't have high standars when it comes to JRPG, i only want a game that's fun to play and have that JRPG magic, and i think that both of them were pretty good.

I want to get Resonance of Fate later, and i'm expecting for ToV in PS3 and ToG for Wii (hopefully someday), also Xenoblade and Last Story seems pretty good, so i have to say, i'm not agree with you TC, i think there are still some good JRPGs out there.

Xenoblade I can see coming out to the States. Tales of Graces, on the other hand, I am quite doubtful of at this point, considering their financial issues, unless you have some sort of proof.

Lost Odyssey has the turn-based battle system.

The Last Remnant uses a sort of squad battle system.

I think it's Lost Odyssey that people reference to being similar to older Final Fantasy's.

Lost Odyssey was criminally underrated. It wasn't innovative, but is easily one of the more entertaining turn-based games out there right now. And the story was nothing short of fantastic, sans predictable villain.

Such an underrated game, I have the 360 and the PC version. THe pc version definatly runs alot better and looks better, but I still thought the 360 versin was good to, though it had a few issues.

If you have a decent PC, try Last Remnant, it was alot of fun to. Not as good as Lost Odyssey but still enjoyed it alot for its gameplay, story and how there are no technical issues at all for the pc version, feels very polished. They seemed to have fixed all the issues the 360 version had.

Console JRPGs have sucked for two gens....there has not been a great exceptional console JRPG since Suikoden II (not Xenogears, Suikoden II is actually better). Lost Odyssey was good, but flawed. Most of the great JRPGs lately are handheld.texasgoldrush

This generation didn't see any great JRPGS (I'm talking about consoles here) but there is many good JRPGs and above average JRPGs like Lost odyssey, ToV, SO4, FF13, WKC, Trinity universe, Xenoblade, Fragile dreams (if you can call it a JRPG), Demon's souls (Also if you can call it a JRPG), VC, Eternal Sonata, Reasonance of fate...etc so guess after all this gen isn't as bad as what people making it seem for JRPGs.
