@charizard1605: Estimates from the sames dudes that leak the NPD numbers, so I'm assuming they might be on to something :P Of course, like I already said in the post, unless MS or someone else releases the actual numbers we can't do much better than that.

They need to discontinue the X360 to help us out with the numbers! hehe :P

Show me another company that can release a major home console that:

- only manages 9 million systems sold in two years

- needs all the game development/publishing heavy lifting to be done by themselves

- also needs to share resources with a dedicated portable in a phone/tablet infested market

and STILL fucking profit and be the company with the highest employee retention.

This is how you run a tight ship!

Was Sony profitable you can gloat about how many more ps4 s sold as long as u want but if its not helping Sony become profitable lol good luck

Nintendo know that they won't sell as much as Wii but they also known how to run a business more than anyone else in the gaming industry

Great news. Here's hoping that Nintendo remains profitable and keeps making quality games.

Why isn't the WiiU like £100 yet. Only then will I make the drop. Any more seems a bit of a rip off still. One day Bayonetta 2 will definitely be mine because I mean, someone's gotta buy it :/

Because they are not retarded and want to make a profit out of their business?

That involves people buying it, which they don't seem to be doing. I bet a price drop would make a lot of people pick one up as a secondary or third console. If only their amiibo selling magic worked on the WiiU.

Congrats Nintendo. I hope they will continue to support the Wii U with new software for another couple of years.

thats pretty good...but was hoping 3DS would have beat xbox one which sold 6 million....oh wait...maybe it did...xbox numbers were combined.

as fopr sony they are so hacked out of their fucking ass they cant even release a statemnt without being scared.

3DS install base is already more than all consoles plus Vita combined, what more do you want?

As for Sony's statement, they will release it when they scheduled it. Companies schedule these things, they don't do it according to the whims of fanboys on gaming forums.

yup, fanboy detected there

Fanboy of what.

You do realize that his sig and avy is PS exclusive franchise, right?

u also realize for the past couple of months anything that comes out of his mouth is praise Nintendo?

fanboys can like other games as well as jump on latest bandwagon.....

I suppose it's good they're turning a profit, but let's keep our reality in check.

It's as if a child selling a candy at $20 on the street when it cost $2 to make cut back their price to $5 and sold a bunch. Is it still making a profit? Sure. Is it anything to scream about? No. This is sustaining, it is not thriving or even progressing. I hope Nintendo fans have not gotten to the point they would be content with such performance.

I agree, but I also think that for now, Nintendo has resigned itself to simply live the Wii U out. They know they can't turn the console around, so it's best to keep their core faithful- those who bought the system- happy with games support, while also meanwhile trying to ride it out and make as much money as possible. If there is any long term growth strategy that Nintendo has (the famed unified architecture) I suspect it does not come into play until the Wii U and 3DS successors.

Baby steps, man. I'm not a huge Nintendo fan but it's still nice to see them succeeding.

lady gaga's born this way album has sold 7 million world wide.....that means more people have wiiUs and are playing games than people that heard her album.

video games have gotten very popular...i have to give credit to sony for that....they broght gamming to people who thought games were for kids.

Hmm, so 3DS is WAYYYY below the DS in sales at this point in their lifetimes.

I guess Nintendo's strategy is; create a great system, let it sell incredibly well then release a successor and let that sell pretty well, then go back to the drawing board. Only thing is wii u flopped hard.

9 million after almost 2.5 years on the market?

OUCH!
