Everything. Everything is holding me back.

I did.
See, for all of those saying "I just use my smart phone", sorry that I want to get a better experience on the go than Angry Birds and Plants vs. Zombies. What happened to portable games having intriguing characters and an engrossing story? Something tells me the red bird in Angry Birds won't be getting a Spike TV award for best video game character.

totally disagree on a few levels, im playing Football Manager 2012 on mine sure its not AS deep as its PC counterpart but its still a deep and technical game with a lot of bite. You just clearly look at the small picture on smartphones/tablet gaming theres a lot of games out there the GTA ports are pretty fun and good little timewasters if angry birds arent your thing and only cost like £3 off the play store.
If you've had an actual shot of a smartphone or tablet and done a bit of research its a platform thats beginning to show its capable of core gaming on the go, im waiting for the obligatory lol touchscreen arguement though it always gives me a laugh because its never really as bad as this forum makes it out to be.
All im gonna say is look at the bigger picture, and besides angry birds is a quality time waster on the short commute on the bus i don't get this unrational hatred for it by forum dwellers.
because my smartphone allows me to do other things on the go. (watch my daily YouTube videos, check forums, etc)
I'd buy a VITA if I was on the go so much that I got bored of my smartphone.
I'd buy a VITA if some great exclusives went to it.
However, I don't want great exclusives to come to it because then I'll have to spend $250+ to play a game I'd rather play on my home console.
Too pricey in my opinion. Memory cards are way too overpriced. I'm just not a fan of Sony's portables. Nothing against it. Just not my thing.
Not enough games, to me, that spark my interest to warrant that price tag. With that said, I haven't played my DSlite or DSiXL in a very long time. So handheld gaming isn't exactly my thing currently. Can't explain why I'm on hiatus.
However, if I had to REALLY choose, the 3DS offers more bang. I might get back to my portable gaming fix sometime in the future. But I'm just way too invested in my consoles right now.

I agree on memory cards but whoever says no games is simply ignorant and repeats the same bs on the boards that people were saying like months ago. Do a goddamn search on the internet and see if Vita has games or no, also there are a lot of announced games in development.
I think it is still true that there aren't that many good games as of now. It's nice that games are in development, but consumer confidence in those games is low because we haven't seen anything from many of them (which for many may set of alarm bells). Given the way the Vita has been performing one can be forgiven for thinking many of those games have been quietly axed. Right now I own MGS HD Collection, Persona 4 and Time Travellers (which isn't even out in English to my knowledge) and I have barely touched my Vita since I got it in July.I don't want a portable PS3 with watered down ports...
I actually am not that fond of handheld gaming, but the reason I have a 3DS is because I want to play the exclusives for it. If I could have it my way I would prefere all the 3ds games to be playable on the wii-u through an adapter or something.
pretty much this. The 10-20 minutes i will play games on the go i'm more than good with my smartphoneBecause if I wanted to play games on the go I'd use my smartphone.

i have a ps vita , but the lack of any games i wanted was holding me back to get it for its first lifetime year , and the price , persona 4 was the reason i got one and im happy i did , it's a great device
The DS backwards compatability is one of the big reasons why I bought a 3DS.If i'm ever gonna buy a handheld, i'm going with a 3DS not only because of its exclusives and support, but because its backward compatability with the DS, which has a gigantic list of good games.

Games in development equal games I can play today? This. Sick of people claiming vapor. And I'm sorry Cows, you're the worst offenders. The Last Guardian says "hi", btw.No gaemz and memory cards are a scam.BPoole96
Pretty much this... Not enough games and mem card prices are a joke.

I imported it from japan. No games is a pretty stupid argument with stuff like exclusive AC or CoD or Resistance. I do agree on scam on pricing though
this, phone games have come far enough that the full console experience is pretty much available on you phone now so you are pretty much buying a vita so you pay 5 - 10x more for games and a couple of buttons.Because if I wanted to play games on the go I'd use my smartphone.

Na without controls I don't consider phones a console experience but a casual one. I do pay more for the games but with more complex gameplay, detail and being bigger in size I don't mind.Because if I wanted to play games on the go I'd use my smartphone.

I am not sure the same you could confidently say the same about platform agnostic third-parties though. I agree it will come out eventually, but I get frustrated when it is used as a 1:1 comparison against other companies products. I wait until five games I want exist on a system before I buy it. I felt like I waited forever on the PS3 to reach that point, and I broke that rule with the Wii and really regretted it. I feel bad for those who buy expecting a game to come out very soon, and then never see it materialize. Also, this past generation saw some of the very worst abuses of missing deadlines and coming up with excuses. "waiting until it is PERFECT" became the mantra for games that missed their due date so many times that it became obvious the parent company had completely lost control of the situation.
Yeah but he didnt just say there are games in development did he? He added that after saying to do a search for what games are available. He's right too. Everyone jumps on the "Vita has no games" bandwagon without checking into it or trying them at the local store. its just like the first two years of PS3. "All" we got out of that were great IPs like Warhawk, Uncharted, Resistance, Motorstorm, Little Big Planet, Valkyria Chronicles, Heavenly Sword...games people now look back on and realize were actually a good lineup. The Vita has a lot of good games out right now + it plays most of the PSP games on the PS Store. Its not even been out a year outside of Japan either.
