Is this even a competition? If Microsoft didn't have Halo, they would have gone the way of Sega. It literally made the brand.

Halo of course, but Ryse has great potential in the future. That is if they would give it to someone besides Crytek.

Halo, it's the game that saved the brand in the early years. Halo didn't even have XBL support, that was Halo 2. There was a gamespy workaround, but lagged like hell.

I still own multiple copies of Halo for my multiple Xboxs just to LAN it up at my crib. I remember the damn game wouldn't go down in price for years, they weren't about to put it on Greatest Platinum Hits. Nope, not when it was the main reason to Jump in to Xbox gaming.

It's surprising that Halo 2 didn't release until 2004, the year before the 360 in 2005.

After Halo 4, I'm a little more apprehensive about the franchise and the direction, but I'm looking backwards right now, not forward.

It was Halo but IMO it is not anymore. I would pick Forza but I dont like how Turn 10 changed there ideas unless they are just holding off to actually have new additions in the sequel. I do not support that and their overpriced DLC that was not included in the season pass of 4. So I picked Banjo Kazooie because I thought N&B was really good.

I hated halo until Halo Reach. That is the first halo game I actually enjoyed playing. Then halo 4 is equally awesome. 2 great halo games vs 4 maybe 5 great forza games.

Halo, Gears, and Forza are at the peak of their respective genres imo. Well they were last gen, Gears Judgement and Forza 5 aren't encouraging signs.

funny coincidence about that. halo was a great franchise UNTIL Reach. (well, unless you count ODST. Campaign was great, but I beat it on legendary in 3 hours. It was just DLC charged at full price w/ the Halo 3 maps most of us already bought, so it was a ripoff)

I really like Halo just not enough to keep paying for live, if online where free I would buy another 360 to play the game.

I really don't have any interest in MS's other franchises and I think that their first party is actually pretty weak, but Halo is really fucking good, far better than Killzone/Resistance.

I will not consider buying an X1 until I see Halo 5. Hopefully it is more like Halo 3.

Halo. Simple as that. There is no other game that Microsoft has anymore that has the weight of Halo. They have Forza, which has been a good series, but the sim-like racing genre is much smaller scale and doesn't have the impact that a great first person shooter does.

Microsoft has one problem that they don't fully understand, they are first and foremost a software company who's foundation is built on supporting platforms that other software developers can use. This is evident with the Xbox brand with their severe lack of 1st party studios and hesitation to branch out and invest more into directly controlled software studios.

This means that we don't see a lot of first party series on the Xbox and won't in the future. They relied too much on games like Call of Duty and FIFA last gen to push Xbox 360s and I see the same thing this gen with CoD and Battlefield.
