What do you think of Ryse: Son of Rome?

I'm a SONY fanboy who's preordered the Playstation 4, yet I've got to admit that Ryse: Son of Rome looks very impressive. The character models are very detailed and realistic, and so are their animations, and the gameplay looks extremely brutal. It's not enough to make me want an XBOX ONE, but it's enough to make me make a thread about it. What do you think of it? 

Game looks terrible, I was interested in it at first, but the gladiator gameplay and everything after that totally put me off.

How could you not have expected there to be gladiator gameplay in a game that takes place in the era of Ancient Rome? C'mon, son.

No interest in it. Honestly all the launch games look a bit meh, we'll really need to give the consoles at least a good 12 months before they start hitting their stride.blue_hazy_basic

How could you not have expected there to be gladiator gameplay in a game that takes place in the era of Ancient Rome? C'mon, son.

I wanted there to be gladiator gameplay, in fact I love the concept of this game and all of its game modes. The only thing I don't like is the actual gameplay. It's just a GoW rip-off done very poorly. I would have preferred they made the game like Chivalry in first or 3rd person views. You know, make it more of a war simulator from the eyes of a warrior rather than a glorified QTE game.

Killzone: Shadow Fall sealed the deal for me. Visceral and gritty gameplay @ 60 FPS @ 1080P is an irresitable experience.

Zero interest

Just like all the launch and announced titles for the PS4 and X1.  I find myself asking why bother with next gen until late 2014.  By then some heavy hitters like Fallout 4 should be announced.

They're both action QTE fests, only God of War has the cinematic appeal, badassery, addictive gameplay and Santa Monica to pull it off. This just looks dull, clunky, and overall bad IMO. I can see it getting a 6-7/10 when releasing.

The multiplayer is. The single player campaign is 30 FPS @ 1080P.

I'd rather play Chivalry, although visually, Ryse is obviously a cut above it.

The game doesn't really wow or impress me in any way, based on the very little I've seen of what has been shown for it so far.

Great graphics, but the gameplay and animation needs work.

Not all that impressed with what I've seen.

Straight to the bargain bin.

...looks really bad. I always wonder why systems launch with games like this. They should have kept it as a Kinect 2.0 feature game, at least that way it would have a better excuse to be so bad.

The graphics are disappointing and the gameplay is GIF-ably bad.

o.o the game looks crappy as hell and genetic button mashing as crap.. it looks increrebly dull, there are so many good hac n slash games out there to go for this game unless  you're a fanboy... or just wanna play all of them....

samething with killer Instinc.. it doesn't look good at all... at least not to me that i have acess to all the consoles ( except the WII U ) so i can make my own choices not let the system do it for me. Mortal Kombat / King of fighters / Tekken / and SF4 are much better and appealing

But really, the graphics aren't that great.  At least not that great compared to what we have seen from other upcoming/next generation games.

Ryse looks awful, like it's a creation of satisfying a contract with MS studios rather than a game anyone wanted to make.  Makes sense too, seing as it was supposed to be a Kinect game initially and is being salvaged for X1's launch.

Gameplay looks terrible, wouldn't pay more than $5 for it.

Love the setting and the plot and how they are approaching the story is appealing to me.

I'm a bit iffy on the actual gameplay, everything Crytek has said about it makes it seem as if it is a game you have to play to really experience. The visceral, close combat that attempts to draw you in by showing you how you fight and what the end result is as well as the combo system and how you can always make each encouter more better.

It looks very mediocre...production wise it looks like what it is, a 360 game modified and pushed back to be a X1 launch title.  Gameplay wise it looks like a bland, flawed action game that puts big set pieces and wonky quick-time finishing moves ahead of solid gameplay.

I think a lot of you guys are hating on this game because it's an XBOX ONE game. If it was a PS4 game, you guys would love it.
