@waahahah: No, i physically and mentally prepare.

you mean you physically get more comphy on the couch?

Because apart from switching to a weapon... I'm still not seeing the preparation

I mean i physically and mentally go prepare Link for adventures.

You physically prepare link for adventures? Does it come with happy ending?

NeoGaf is killing me trying to figure out where Breath of the Wild falls in Nintendo's Broken Timeline.

I thought it was perfectly clear that Nintendo "Star Wars'd" Zelda and just said "Every Game before this one were just Legends."

No timeline, Every Zelda is it's own Legend and the people of Breath of the Wild was REALLY aware of them.

It falls in the hero has fallen timeline. But yeah, theyre all legends. Even this made it clear its a legend. Maybe after the Adventure of Link. So might be Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, and then Breath of the Wild.

Did we play the same game?

If it fell into ANY timeline if Nintendo actually cares about it anymore...

It's the child timeline. Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time are referenced as they should since it's before the split, but Zelda directly references that the Master Sword fought in "Embers of Twilight" meaning it saw the events of Twilight Princess. THING IS THOUGH THIS GAME HAS REFERENCES TO MANY OTHER ZELDA GAMES like the Leviathans making some NPCs in the game suggest there was a big Drought in Hyrule (I wonder how they got there? It's as if the entire World was Underwater at some point in time... *cough*WindWaker*cough*) Use the Amiibo for the other Link Tunics and they start talking about the Many Legends the Hero has gone through. If you must put this on any Timeline in the Hyrule Historia it's the Child Timeline, but I feel like there's more evidence to indicate that Nintendo doesn't care and made everything before this game just pure Legends. The Only games directly referenced in this one are Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess.

@LegatoSkyheart: Yeah, but Hyrule is in decline and Link was defeated. Thats why i say it falls in the hero has fallen timeline. We know its after Skyward Sword, since thats the beginning and we know its after OoT. Not sure on Twilight and Wind Waker though, will have to hear more of the story.

You do know that the Fallen Hero Timeline refers to Ocarina of Time Link Failing right?

This game Implies that every Hero thus far has been SUCCESSFUL.

Put 105:46 hours ingame, Wii-U, its a good game but they tried a lot of new things in breath of the wild.

Weapons durability and shrines are ok, once you figuring out the best spot in the world to get the better weapons, you won't have any problem with that durability, getting weapon slots help on that too. my only problem is the 4 beasts as main dungeons, i feel they are very short and its unfortunate, because zelda game are totally good for those. Its not a bad game. but i do have fun with ALTTP OoT and TP for the dungeons when this one.

Its the only spot i could put it in though. We know this Link was not successful. He had to be saved.

But Ocarina of Time Link was successful. Where the Timelines Split is AT Ocarina of Time. The Hero Fails and The Hero Succeeds were it splits further with Child and Adult timelines.

Breath of the Wild Assumes every Hero before this one succeeded in Defeating Ganon. Heroes of Old are referred to like Princess Ruto and Nabooru in which they are highly praised for Helping the Hero Ages ago. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY this is during the Defeated Hero Timeline because Link Won his battle.

So if AND ONLY IF Nintendo cares about their Timeline, this game falls directly under the Child Timeline since the game makes direct References to Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess AND assumes every Hero won their battle.

With that said I still think this game retcons everything and just states all Games were just Legends.

Yall discussing the timeline might as well stop, it's about the most obscure here as it's ever been. Too many mushed in references to other games to make any clear decision about where it goes.

I doubt Nintendo themselves knows where this one goes, or even cares.

@LegatoSkyheart: That's a good clue then. There's no telling. I wonder if it's after Spirit Tracks. We might be dealing with brand new territory. This is the most vase land weve ever dealt with. So it could be well after the flood.

as I've stated before. The Game really leans more to the fact all Games before this one were mere Legends. There is no Timeline, just Stories passed down Generation to Generation. The Timeline no longer Exists.

But if you somehow want to cling on to that Broken piece of mess they printed on the Hyrule Historia, there's evidence there to place this game in the Child Timeline. Even though the Game outright tells you everything was just a Legend.

@MonsieurX Is there a reward for finding them all? Like does Hestu's Gift actually do something? Or is just getting the item classify as the "reward"

Please just yes or no answer, don't tell me what it does or what the reward is!

Yes because you need another video game to understand the concept of prepartion. Turns out real life you wake up with your pants on and breakfast made, and you're ready to go! Oh are you 8 years old?

I already acknowledged you can prepare food, but weapons you just have. You generally prepare weapons after each fight, or sort through and take the best ones... there isn't a huge amount of thought process that goes into the weapon system.

No, my point has been the vast majority of the weapons are transient items like ammo, it would be like a shooter flashing a dialog box every time you were almost out of ammo, and the reload animation pauses the game. You find items, there is no concept of preparing your equiepment, unlike the all mighty box in resident evil, you can sort through what equipment to take which is preparation.. That happens AFTER fights, not before, and its not really all that thought provoking, discard junk for better junk.

Apparently there is a mechanic to tame them. The fact that they control like crap at first is done on purpose.

Well that is just dumb to say the least. I don't understand why anyone would consider this good mechanics. I have to suffer through poor controls for an unspecified time for the controls to get better? Geesh, just when I thought stamina for running through a large open world was garbage, I am met with this logic. ? Thanks for the heads up.

Isn't it a bit like a real horse? If you just mount a savage horse he'll go all over the place. It needs to be tamed and trained. I know it's the logic behind the mechanic. It makes taming a worse a worthy endeavor and you actually wanna keep it once it has been trained. It's not simply a disposable animal like in Far Cry Primal.

@Juub1990: Lets not jump on the in real life logic because that path is inconsistent and illogical. The controls are bad and the player has to suffer through poor controls until it gets better. That's what is happening. How much better is an unknown. But it's silly to burden the player will crappy controls regardless of the dumb reasoning behind it.

That's not very accurate to the experience I've had. New horses occasionally slightly weave off track. Keeping petting them for obeying orders and it takes maybe 7 minutes to tame them.

I think you're exaggerating quite bit to be honest.

What other alternative are there? An untrained horse simply doesn't control like a trained one and they wanted to make training a horse worthwhile. If every horse controlled beautifully from the start you'd just ditch your current one in favor of a nicer looking one every time. Instead you bond with your horse, tame it and reap the rewards by getting a horse that controls nicely.

The reasoning really isn't dumb and it makes perfect sense. It's a bit like in Mass Effect where the sniper rifle reticule sways all over the place until you invest skill points in the sniper. If that wasn't the case skilled players would simply grab the gun and start wrecking shit from the get go and that would defeat the purpose of putting points in sniping and kill the RPG element.

You may not agree with them but the reasons behind the horse controls make perfect sense.

Or you can just get a better horse. Some horses are more aggressive and unfriendly than others. The unfriendlier they are the harder to tame. I've captured horses that had gentle natures and they are not disobedient and control perfectly fine.

No it was just a wee bit of advice. If you dont like the controls or the stamina mechanic which much of the game revolves around, the game probably isn't for you.
