Bioshock Infinite, BOOM.
I hate to break it to all ya Sony faithfuls out yonder, but Bioshock Infinite pretty much wipes it's ass with TLoU in more ways than one. Like TLoU is pretty great and all but it seems like people are just nostalging a bit over the fact that there hasn't been a third person survival horror-esque game like this since forever ago so they're goin a little crazy for it. The storytelling just isn't all that impressive. The central relationship between Joel and Ellie is the only real driving force behind it and the "guy n girl going it alone while slowly forming a close bond" type story was done much better in Enslaved: Odyssey To The West. Now Bioshock Infinite on the other hand, well storytelling just so happens to be one of it's strongest attributes.
TLoU's gameplay is pretty awesome, can't argue against that, but so is Infinite's. Now for the real ass-kicker, Infinite's Columbia totally trumps the ever loving shit out of TLoU's post-apocalyptic city. Hat is off to Naughty Dog for packing such an amazing amount of detail into it but at the end of the day it's still just another wrecked city, and that setting is way over used in video games these days. Columbia is totally fresh and original. There's nothing else quite like it in the video game medium. Also, and there's no way this can be debated, Elizabeth >>>>>>>>>>> Ellie as an AI partner. Ellie comes off as such a dumbass during gameplay while Liz seemed surprisingly intelligent for a NPC.
So to recap...
Story - Infinite wins by a landslide
Setting - Infinite wins by a landslide
AI - Infinite wins by a landslide
Gameplay -Â This one is a tough call. Infinite has better gunplay and combat no doubt, but everything else, TLoU does better. I'll let TLoU take this one.
So yeah, I really can't see GS giving the win to TLoU. It's just not on the same level as Infinite. BOOM.
