TLOU's story isn't very original, although it is well presented. The relationship between Joel and Ellie is the only real thing of note (as noted by Mr. Shake in the OP). I'd say Bioshock has a much more creative story even though its a bit of a cop out in that it never really deals with religion or racism head on despite raising the issues early in the game. Both games have pretty dull gameplay although I enjoyed Bioshock's more since it was less clunky. 

IMO, Metro Last Light was better than both. It had a good story, but it rapes both TLOU and Bioshock Infinite in terms of gameplay mechanics and atmosphere.

TLOU is usually reviewed on presentation, not a game. Gamespot reviews it as a game and not a movie and the little 14 year old fanboys cried all day long.

BioShock Infinite deserves it more than The Last of Us.

I don't think GameSpot will even award it the GOTY though anyway. The 8.0 coupled with some articles that criticize it show that the staff isn't so supportive of it all.

However, GTAV will unfortunately win.

GTAV does have a good chance, seeing as how it has been proven by a drunken gaming editor that Rockstar pays top dollar for critical acclaim and wont hesitate to fire shots at anybody who dares give them a negative review. In fact I hear people have lost review rights and even their job over giving certain Rockstar games anything less than a 90%. Yes that is the kind of company we need to be supporting.
