I'll buy the game when it's $20. I just cannot see myself buying the game at any price higher than that

It wasn't bad. GOTY awards seem like a big joke though.
I can name at least 30 games that I found much better than it.... and still play 7 years later (Team Fortress 2 for one).
it seems "mainstream media" is "how much like a movie is this game?"
For god sake let that crap die already,no one outside PC cares about Team Fortress 2..
The game was great give credit where is do.
lets be frank, you only dont care because the craptastic console versions were shocking. got to love console limits. can't wait to see 80-100k people playing last of us or uncharted, or killzone in 7 years.... oh wait... their gameplay is so basic nobody cares to.

Oh please COD on P3 gets 300k in normal hours, and more than half a million in peak times.
Who cares,i don't need 100K people to play there isn't one game that support that many players at once,so even if the community has 4k people playing i am good, because matches are way smaller than that.
So 8 vs 8 you only need 16,not 50,000...
Please no one cares about those games expect for PC gamers stock in the past like you.

You use pretty much outside of Halo the only REALLY popular online franchise on consoles? REALLY?
Tell me, how is CoD of 2007 doing? yea I thought not.
population is a testament to quality over the years. E.G DoTA 2 and League of Legends being over 600k every day and they have been out for a couple of years now.
but ofcourse play the "low pop doesn't matter card" ... I could pick up a really turdish multiplayer game from early 2000 and still see more players than the "best PS3 games".
With high respect to this game and ND, this amounts to more of a popularity contest, than anything.
I mean, the top 3 games here are also the 3 that had the most media buzz to begin with.
I'd doubt if "ABC Good Game," for example, put much thought and discussion into their choice.
That said TLOU got game of the year from quite few more respected publications.
LEMS, HERMITS, SHEEP AMMMMM CRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
TLOU best game this gen.

@HarlockJC: Always a good day when a mod gets salty. B-b-but, never heard of them before. No credibility!
The comment was not because I agree or disagree with the opinion of what should be GOTY. The comment was the issue with the source. The website has listed almost 500 review different review sites. Many of them are nothing more than small time fan sites. That not very creditable information to use.

How do they have anymore or less credibility than say Gamespot, or IGN for example, when it's just opinions that are being reported?
Congrats, well-deserved success! I played the first 2-3 hours of the game, and thought it was awesome(especially the graphics). That game and Hard Rain made me very jealous of PS3 users, but not to the point where I had to have one. I didn't get the "OMG this is so amazing I must go out and buy this immediately" vibe, but I can certainly understand why it won all these awards.
Also, some people seem to pay too much attention to reviews and awards, I don't let those things make my decisions for me. I've discovered some great games in the past that had minimal critical acclaim and no awards, doesn't mean they are not good.....and I can't believe some people are arguing about the 8.0 Gamespot gave it., that's just sad......happy new year all!

That's a nice personal opinion.

so is the GOTYs...

The differences can be much easier to find. When you go to a fan site and read their GOTY you have no idea how many games they have played. Your getting a very narrow view from the 1 or 2 people who run the site. Lets say you came out and said your GOTY is The Last of Us. Then someone asks you how it compared to Super Mario World 3d, GTA5, or Zelda. Then you reply well I did not play those games. Well your opinion of what is the GOTY is meaninglessness without a foundation to stand on. At least with major websites like IGN or Gamespot you have a staff of gamers who play for a living. Because of this they have played many more games and so their opinion should way more than that of a site who might review 5 to 10 games a year. It's like going to your friend who bought the first car he saw and asking him if that is the best car on the market. Sure it's the best car on the market to him, because he did not try out any other cars.
I love how 99% of those websites no one heard of..... But don't worry "The FAT website" gave the Last of US their GOTY.
go away fanboy
@HarlockJC: didn't you just get done laughing about how nobody has heard of those sites? I'm reminded of the year 2009 at the Gamespot goty awards. A little game called Demons Souls had won. A game nobody had heard b of, that was up against Uncharted 2, CoDMW2, Fallout 3 to name a few. don't try to spin what you originally said with some long explanation about playing games being a job and other tripe.
yooo, Sony decimating the competition from left to right. Awards, sales, games... Oh dear.
you know whats funny? 99 GOTY awards for TLOU, sold 3.5 million none for CoD, sells 10 million. Funny how certain things only matter when they benefit the posters opinion.
Also FWIW i think an 8.0 is a fair score. it was a good game IMO but not an amazing one. Same way that avatar was a good movie, but not a great one but was so popular due to visuals. If naughty dog would have improved the actual gameplay it should have been GOTY.
it is GOTY, Zelda won Editor's Choice. and TLOU won People's Choice

What does what Gamespot gave GOTY in 2009 have anything to do with my statement? Just because a game you may not have heard of at the time won the GOTY over other games does not change my statement in anyway. Lets take an example from the very top of the Contactmusic.com first did not give a GOTY award they listed their top 10 favorite games of 2013. Second they don't even do video game reviews on their site. Third when you click on the link the comments read like a fanboy writing why the 360 is better than the PS3. This is one link I randomly click on the top of the list. Now why would a site that does not even do video game reviews be judged as good as a site that only does video game reviews.
On a sidenote Gamespot was not the only major gaming source to give Demon souls awards. The game got tons of awards that year from many different sites for best RPG and Multiplayer. It was listed in almost all major game reviewers sites as a finalist. So to use the game as an example is not a good choice, the game was well worth the award.

Yep, I am a fanboy because I don't care what the International Business Times put in a list of why they will miss the current gen system of 2013. Another random link and the website was not even listing a GOTY award. They were listing the top 5 games for the 360/PS3 for 2013 as reason why they were going to miss the systems.
Casuals do love their movie games
Some good jelly right here.
Doesn't mean much considering how much of a casual you are.
