Hope it's good, I guess. Still disappointed that Persona is their main franchise but whatever.

The FE:A hate here just doesn't stop, now does it? What other awful thoughts do you people hold? >:[
Fire Emblem Awakening is fun, wonderful, dare I say funderful. But it's a stripped down game with bland encounter designs. Plus the notion that "this is the time FE was about tactics" is laughable at best in a game where a character as broken as Donnel exists, or the part where the pair up mechanic is a giant get out of jail free card for characters with weak defenses.
Also I don't look at second seals and reclassing as positives. You are doing video game work to create a broken character which isn't fun, or challenging, or interesting, or intriguing, or anything other than immense tedium to make the game easier for yourself or OR, it's because Fire Emblem has a shitty wasted character in EVERY fucking game, and instead of just not making that character shit and pointless, they added a system where you can make that character good by doing work. Fucking hooray. I don't miss my job on my free time, and I don't look at doing tedious bullshit as a positive. You know what the fix for a guy like freddy was? don't make him shit.
Lunatic was a shitty difficulty mode that does not ask the player of their skills, their tactical wits, their strategic wits, their reflexive skills, their character management, their critical thinking skills or any of that, it asks them if they can get lucky while having patience for bullshit. I don't subscribe to the notion that you need DLC to beat that difficulty (because I beat it, and I don't buy DLC unless it's a Street Fighter upgrade), but that doesn't make Lunatic any less broken and devoid of any satisfaction when you beat it.
After Project Steam (which thank fucking god they did a new ip), I want something like Advance Wars, because Dual Strike was the shit.
With regards to Donnel, I suppose you could say the same of all his predecessors who start off weak but have ridiculous growths. Not what I'd call a bad design though. Hell to keep alive at the start and moreso if you charge through the campaign, but you get a massive payoff later. On the flip side, you have Frederick who's tough at the start, getting comparitively weak later on but isn't quite useless at that point thanks to reclassing and grinding options. Even without, he's still got Luna, Dual Guard+, and triangle control. Either way, he's no longer an XP-draining death sentence. Really, the "this time it's about the tactics" notion just has to do eliminating the XP management that held back the series. Pair Up being broken is irrelevant (and still one of my favourite mechanics despite that).
As for Lunatic, I'll comment when I actually beat it. Think I was at Chapter 2...But yes, I'd love a new Advance Wars after Project Steam. Maybe a bit less Dual Strike and more Days of Ruin though. Didn't like what I tried of Dual Strike. >.>
>FE:A hate and we're awful
>acknowledge the game is good
>a totally valid criticism against a mechanic that is broken because it destroys any concept of impunity
Why even be bothered by others having a disagreement about a game you like if you're just going to play the "its my opinion" card for aspects they had a criticism for? At that point you might as well call us poopy heads and be done with it.

The "You people are awful" thing was tongue-in-cheek. Thought that would've been clear from the >:[.
As for Pair Up, yes, it's broken. Not gonna debate that. Didn't really have to do with the "Finally about the tactics / no more XP management" thing though which is why I dismissed it for that particular discussion.

Fair enough, you and illmatic are still on drugs with the second seal/reclassing/freddy not being trash defense. That shit is pure huey and applesauce.
What is Persona and why should I care?

So guys, I'm gonna get upgrade my gpu within the next month (maybe 3 weeks from now). I'm still uncertain between the 760 and 770, I can afford both. Issue is, after seeing that Watch Dogs requires so much VRAM, and many of the stores here simply don't supply 4gb versions of cards, I'm wondering if a 2gb version of the 770 will do ok for the next ~2 years? I seriously do not want to buy a card, and find games that I can't max out (within reason).

The 88* will be out soon. Wait for them as many 780 owners will sell their cards as they upgrade.

When exactly? I am moving to Germany next Summer too So the sooner I get my gpu the better, I'm probably not gonna take this PC with me.

If you can get a 3gb card of any of those cards I would get em, the sad thing with the 800 series is people have been saying they'll be out soon, for the past 6 months or so and there's still no set in stone release date. A few games are gonna start requiring at least 3gb of vram to run on ultra (Watch Dogs and Star Citizen are the ones I know of)

Exactly man, I know the 800 series is coming but I don't see the point in waiting. I will see if I can find a 3gb versaion of the 770, I know there is a 4gb version of the 760, But I'd much rather get a 770.
EDIT: Hehe, there are precisely 0 places in Portugal selling a 3gb version of the 770. There is the 4gb version in a few places though.
2nd Edit: The price is much higher though ;_; I can't afford the 4gb version. I feel that getting a 770 2gb version is better than getting the 4gb of the 760.

You might have to settle with a 4gb version of the cards, swore there was a 3gb version of the 760 but I couldn't find any on newegg or amazon, have no idea if there's a 3gb version for the 770.
A 770 4gb will last for awhile and should run every game on high/ultra within the next few years, having a 780 is kinda overkill if you ask me :P
The thing about PC gaming is something is always right around the corner.
I'd play what you have until you're playing games at what you no long consider an acceptable level of FPS/resolution.

Yeah 780s and above are for the multi monitor, higherthan1080p master race. :P
So yeah looks like I will see if I can get a good price for the 4gb 770.

Well I can more or less ignore the fact that I might not be getting the very best at all times. I think skipping one generation is a good deal. So like I started with 560 Ti, skipped 600 series, and now I'm gonna upgrade to 700 series. I'll skip the 800 series, and upgrade soon after 900 series (presumably).
I've always been ok with 30 fps in a many games, if that's what it takes to max it out. I was a console gamer not too long ago so, I have lower standards.

Are you set up already on Nvidia?
R9 280\280x both have 3gb(and there's a 6gb version from MSI if you're fancy)
i just got a triple fan r9 280x, i am extremely happy with it. i only bought it because the mrs' 7850 died, so i gave her my 7850 and had to buy myself 'something'! i considered the GTX770 myself however i decided to save a bit of money because 1) this was an unscheduled upgrade 2) my scheduled upgrade is from the next cards.
obviously the 770 gtx is superior but costs a bit more. i feel around this price point the value is fairly consistent among GPUs (frames per dollar).
if you can find the money for a 4gb 770 triple fan, i think that'd be magic. that's probably what I would have bought as an interim card if I'd had more disposable income available.
ah shopping for GPUs. enjoy it.

Yeah. Right now I'm 100% loyal to Nvidia. :P I have nothing against AMD, but Nvidia is the only manufacturer that I can trust because the 560 Ti is the only other card I've dealt with. I will try AMD out at some point in the future.
I've also heard of AMD users getting a lot of issues with many games because of drivers/lack of driver support. So that's a big turn off.

Generally I find that Nvidia's drivers have been the ones sucking recently.
yeah i feel like the door swings both ways on that one.
AMD drivers have come on leaps and bounds compared to what they were. Even their Xfire stuff is improving. Nvidia have had a good few dud updates, one of which even killed cards.
Anybody have any experience with some good media streamers in Canada? It really sucks that the Amazon Fire TV has access to basically nothing if used outside of the US.
you could build one? i recommend the x99 chipset.
Today is a good day for Champ, got to put up my interview with the developer on Aztez, and will be interviewing Yacht Club Games on Shovel Knight stuff via skype. Good week.
Try get an interview with this guy
Ho boy did he make a name from himself out of nowhere today.
Got Aljosa on it, he says a lot of honest shit, I respect that. I respect the lack of jive.
I'm also never apologizing for getting games on a deal and all that jazz. He's incredibly wrong about the fact that the audience is worthless to him, because of the lack of money they provide. Because no matter how many ways Phil Fish wants to get on his high horse (again an element I can get behind, we are kindred spirits in this way), he is not famous or RICH without the money spent on his game. It's called business and it's called survival of the fittest. Jon Blow is successful because his game was exceptional. Team Meat is successful because their game was exceptional.
Are all exceptional games rewarded? **** no. Bayonetta is a prime example of a game that is terrific by any objective measure of that genre, and it didn't do well because of a mixture of poor marketing and because the aesthetic isn't pleasing to a large enough audience.
But his notion of making less money invalidates his consumers is stupid, you're bitching because your feelings got hurt. I can understand that, the internet is full of assholes who use the veil of being behind a computer screen as a license to be rude, uncalled for, tasteless, etc. And I understand asking people to be as thick skinned and bullish as myself is incredibly naive and shouldn't even be an expectation, the part where people could be less assholes should be the expectation. But don't get on a soap box and act like the consumer doesn't pay your bills. I may have hated a shit load of people I had to serve in restaurants, and HOLY SHIT are people dumber than normal during tax season now that I am an accountant. That doesn't change the fact that the people who tipped me while being assholes paid my bills essentially, and the people asking dumb questions during tax seasons pay my bills.
At some point you have to be able to do the job and get the **** over it. I like being on my soap box plenty, but I am not a resident of Mt. Pious. Mt. Obnoxious Asshole yes, Pious? no.
Would I shoot the shit with him? sure, but I wouldn't jive him on the latter, and I doubt he gives me the rub the way the Aztez and Yach Club guys did. Plus Kyle Bossman was fun to talk to because he's Kyle Bossman and he's awesome.
His vent rubs off as being relevant to the position his small studio is in. I like Puppy Games. Their games are good and they have a somewhat distinctive 80s arcade aesthetic. They havent made a bad game, but they just havent made a great breakthrough title either. There are countless of indie games that are merely good, but, merely good doesnt get you that momentum unless you're hitting an 80+ metacritic score or something, or if your game is something worth Streamable/LPing. So people end up buying merely good only when it goes on sale (guilty as charged), while everyone else is 'br0 never heard about the game'.
And I think this pressures Puppy and similar studios to play the sugarcoated PR card just to keep a consistent userbase for their next project. Well, good for them for being honest, I'm all for letting it out on asshat gamers that buy their product and make demands, but PR works. Consumer good will is a thing that makes gamers unusually open their wallets thinking they are spending money on some good cause (lol). I mean, Grinding Gear who is offering a fully featured game for a whopping $0 have stressed that gamers are willing to voluntarily open up their wallets if they communicate positively and offer a good service.
I bought Revenge of the Titans (one of their games) dirt cheap during a sale. Personally, I have no sympathy or will apologize for buying a game on sale either. I dont care for what a developer thinks about me if I bought it for $2.50 let alone if I paid full price at $15. Nor would I be upset if I bought a game for $15 and it goes on a humble bundle two months later even if I have yet to finish or even install the game. But at least my enjoyment--which is the thing I care about--and being able to at least -try- Revenge of the Titans for $2.50 allowed me to be keen or slightly interested in their next game. Which I think, counts for something and is better than nothing.
If you arent aware of the background story to that soapbox, it began from the comments section of this Rock, Paper, Shotgun article. The user is the same developer that wrote that vent.
Didn't like what I tried of Dual Strike. >.>
What the **** am I reading. #betrayed
I'll just leave this here.
If they show some gameplay footage....I'll nerd out
for ****'s sake don't tell me the mc will be female because that would ruin my harem dream. At least it seems the art style will be closer to P3 instead f the cheesy and corny P4.
What I want from Persona 5 is to bring that SMT atmosphere back.
I liked Persona 3 more since it has that Megaten tone with cool scenarios and an interesting urban setting. while still having more accessible characteristics. Persona 4 just completely went balls to the wall in the other direction, all while choosing to set the game in a rather uninteresting locale.
PS. Yukari > The obnoxious Chie.
