[QUOTE="gpuking"] Go read it up yourself, time will not be wasted on you. the static lighting is for baking GI, all platforms including high end pc would need it for good lighting without sacrificing too much other graphical effects. Too hard for you to understand? gpuking

In other words, you don't know jack about SVOGI. And no, high end PCs don't need static lighting. We have already seen fully dynamic lighting with CryEngine 3.

You just keep showing how clueless you are with game tech. Cryengine's light propagation volume is far less advanced than SVOGI, you can easily do one bounce GI with the Sun being the only GI source. High end PC is no ILM's render farm son, you simply can't do SVOGI in a very complex nextgen game environment. That's why tech demos are meaningless and serves nothing then a concept for future hardware.

Where did I say CryEngine uses SVOGI and let's see if your Sony First Party can do the 'EASY' LPV realtime GI. ;) No matter how you put it PS4 led to the removal of SVOGI. And my reply was in response to your $hit about PC needing static lights, fact is it doesn't but your precious PS4 definitely needs it as Epic now add it in the UE4. Now cry some more.

Oh and you still didn't reply to me how SVOGI works! Is it because you don't know about graphics much? And what about your bull$hit 8GB GDD5 being the solution of every problem.

Who cares...the lighting look just fine on todays games even if it prebaked

Static Lighting = Static Almost Everything. Wonder how you can't react with things illuminating in a game? i.e. Lights etc. Real Time lighting = Faster load times as well. SVOGI is(was) going to be the next big thing.

You honestly have no idea of SVOGI do you? Firstly it's only the realtime GI that's been removed, they still have normal dynamic lighting which you can see in the Infiltrator demo and many other UE3 games. Also Epic has already confirmed SVOGI is too demanding for everything platforms including highest end PCs. Many other graphical features would be sacrificed if you don't prebake realtime GI in that Infiltrator demo. No one's holding anyone back, it's just like you can't do ray tracing in game like Crysis 3 yet on any systems.

[QUOTE="faizan_faizan"] Huh? EPIC needed minimum of 2TFLOPS while the PS4 only possesses 1.8. By your logic, UE4 demo running on the 680 was pre rendered?zeeshanhaider

I was also kind of confused by gpuking's previous comment. They removed the SVOGI because it was too demanding even for high end PCs? One, that makes no sense, because one of the points of a new engine is to push the boundaries, and do stuff that makes the hardware companies play catch up. Also, wasn't SVOGI present in the original UE4 Elemental Demo, which ran at 60 fps on a single gtx 680?

gpuking is the biggest cow. He has no problem with onrails KZ:SF demo but SVOGI can't be done on PC hardware especially when it only going to get better with time unlike PS4.

Are you blind, dumb or all of the above The Killzone Shadow Fall demo was not on rails. Maybe the very ending was, but it was highly cinematic like! It was awesome. All the gameplay looked great. And its funny you would even try to say that when your favorite game Crysis IS vey linear. You could make the case Crysis 3 was actually on rails at many times lol So get out of here with your crazy Playstation hating ass, You hermit! We could take your post and apply it to you and it would make more sense that way too: "You have no problem with generic linear shooters like Crysis, yet you discredit console games for being generic or linear lol" See, now go away!

the_bi99man

If you can't implement a certain technique into a real world gameplay even if your engine demo can do it then it really makes the technique redundant. You can push technology but only when you can actually utilize it on the hardware available. The original elemental demo was run on a single gtx 680 at 30fps but only 90% 1080p. You can see even high end pc could only do it at sub Full HD res.

Okay. So even if a 680 ran it at 30 fps, so what? That's not a reason to remove a feature from the entire engine. It's just an engine, not a game. If game developers don't want to use a certain technique, because they think it's too demanding for their target audience, then they don't use it. Simple. Having it available as an option in the engine is great, and there's no reason not to. If modern hardware can run it  at all  then it's perfectly reasonable to expect that within just a couple years, hardware will be available that shits all over it and laughs.

Epic said they would have to sacrifice A LOT of other graphic features to run Infiltrator with SVOGI, so I'm not holding my breath in a couple of years especially when the rate of graphic card advancement has slowed down drastically. And for the 0.00000001% sli and titan users, it's simply a niche market that no one would bother to invest. Even John Carmack has abandoned this method when he initially thought he could use it for nextgen.

I'm sure my high end PC can't even SVOGI as well. Maybe in 2015 or 2016 we'll start having those video cards and processors that can handle it at a reasonable price.

Consoles are the true cancer of gaming. Constantly holding back graphical enhancements before they're even released. Teh quadz can't even run tech demos properly.

That's why tech demos are meaningless and serves nothing then a concept for future hardware.

gpuking

Based on AMD's Leo tech demo IP, Hitman Absolution PC's GI has multiple bounces.

SVOGI is not the only method for dynamic GI.

I'm sure my high end PC can't even SVOGI as well. Maybe in 2015 or 2016 we'll start having those video cards and processors that can handle it at a reasonable price. Kjranu
Unity3D has SVO GI download demo.

Based on AMD's Leo tech demo IP, Hitman Absolution PC's GI has multiple bounces.

In Hitman Absolution you also have GI from more than 1 light source.

It's just Unreal Engine being late.

Hitman Absolution's GI solution has a GPU vendor IP intervention.

I'm thinking back to all of those threads about the endless possibilities of 8GB GDDR5

Entry level flagship GPU ASICs are already in 7870 Ghz Edition (AMD Pitcairn XT) prices e.g. 7870 XT (AMD Tahiti LE).

7870 XT uses the same AMD Tahiti ASIC design as Radeon HD 79x0s.
