Super Mario Wonder - 9/10, 93 MC! UPDATE: 4.3 million in 2 weeks, fastest selling Super Mario!

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a side-scrollingplatform game. As one of eight player characters—Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Nabbit and Yoshi—the player completes levels across the Flower Kingdom with assistance from its talking flower-like denizens.^[2][3] Like prior Super Mario games, players guide their character to the end of a level while avoiding enemies, such as Goombas and Piranha Plants, and transporting through Warp Pipes. Each stage contains multiple collectible "Wonder Seeds".^[4]

New power-ups include a fruit that transforms the player into an elephant,^[4][5] a flower that allows the player to create bubbles that capture enemies,^[3] a mushroom that gives the player a drill hat,^[3] and the Wonder Flower, which triggers bizarre effects such as pipes coming to life, hordes of enemies spawning, and character appearances and abilities changing.^[4][5]

A new feature allows players to equip badges, which are unlocked throughout the game and give different perks.^[3] They are divided into three different types: Action Badges, which grant the player character an additional ability, Boost Badges, which give the player character an additional passive ability, and Expert Badges, which grant the player character an advanced skill.^[5]

The game supports local multiplayer for up to four players.^[6] It also supports some online multiplayer functionality.^[3]

I'm super hyped for Super Mario Wonder! Most interesting Mario game in a long time. How about you, SW? What is your hype for Super Mario Wonder? I'm going with 9/10 GS, 89 MC (Gotta bake in that Nintendo bias that reviewers have lol). Oh, and isn't it nice that we get Spider-Man 2 and this game on the same day??

Probably an 8/10 on this site and a high 80s Meta. It’ll probably be another 10/10 in the franchise for me. I never grow tired of them.

@SolidGame_basic: If he gets backlash before getting a chance, I'm blaming Tara Strong for normalizing this behavior as she did to Chris Pratt (because any big name celeb who isn't Mark Hamill can't VA apparently...) from the movie. Thankfully, she's getting a lot of s*** over her takes during a... certain ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

I've found the 2D Mario games across DS, Wii, and WiiU extremely boring and sterile.

Wonder looks more interesting so I'll keep an eye on it.

Likely won't buy it immediately since Cities Skylines 2 is out around the same time.

Not bad, but kinda irrelevant to me. I would hate them replacing Christopher Judge voicing Kratos cuz he is literally flawless, but as for Mario? Couldn't care less lol.

@SolidGame_basic: Honestly, I didn't even realize there was a new voice actor until I read about it. So sounds good to me. Honestly, they should have stuck with Chris Pratt to continue the voice continuity. :P

I saw it at the Nintendo Store in New York but didn’t want to play, lol. Wanted to save myself for release day!

lol I guess they eventually had to find a replacement. Charles Martinet is almost 70 lol.

I'd say 8/10 to be safe, but 9/10 is likely.

Can't wait!!! It's going to be amazing, like most of Nintendo's games.

I'll go with a 9 and about a 92 on meta. Either way I'd like to get the game. It appears they are trying to reach for a younger audience, so I hope they don't remove all the challenge. Either way if and when Mario Maker 3 releases we will have a new game to pull from.

9 out of 10 on GS. This is what happens when you treat your employees well, and dont impose a deadline on them. They can actually utilize their creative juices.

I find it weird that some can actually be hyped for a Mario game. You have been playing the same thing for 30 years. Wake up.

Mario Maker is weird tho. Like some of the creations are stunning. But also none of the creations tend to feel like genuine Mario levels we played growing up. Troll levels, auto-Mario's, convoluted puzzle/key levels, etc. Very few people try to make levels that are balanced in difficulty and platforming- they're either made to be really hard or a simple gimmick.
