Do you realize the fundamental of the system design is all set and any major change would have drastically delay the launch lol? MS is not gonna throw in a 680gtx all of a sudden, nor will the TDP allow such change. A slight gpu core frequency boost is the most they can do for now.

Microsoft changed a hell of a lot About the 360 AFTER the design wa finalised, Read Dean Takeshi's book about the Xbox 360, The HDD was added after the designs where approved, more RAM was added (courtesy of EPIC games) and the intitial build had Heatsink/ Fan combination for Cooling, if you read the book you would realise that the intial design was a solid piece of kit but management KEPT changing it After the design was finalised and Many MS engineers where frustrated by this because the HDD blocked a major air intake and changed the airflow in the system completely. 'Microsoft decided late to add a hard disk drive to most of the machines. It also came up late with a plan to add wireless controllers; all of the previous consoles shipped with wired controllers. The hard drive blocked a lot of the air flow on one side of the machine. And the wireless modules had to have enough of their own space to ensure that there was no electrical interference. In the end, the machine was a series of compromises. The gigantic power supply needed to run the machine sat outside in the power cord, while the console shell was poked full of holes on the sides to ensure air flow.' It turned out in the end that this was all going too far, too fast, said one source. They were adding too many features after things were locked down. There is a difference between the fundamentals of a system and those things. They didn't change the CPU or GPU, the memory architecture and really anything fundamental. They changed how it was assembled, little else. The biggest change was memory, but all that amounts to is standard memory chip swap or addition. The issue right now is that to make a 2013 deadline, they already have to be pumping out the components. You can stall final assembly quite a while, but you need the components long before full assembly begins. So, when it comes to the major component, probably both Sony and MS are locked in by now. Best they can do is alter the clock on those. Memory is probably the one thing of substance they can mess with only because those component are more universal and not specific to the consoles.

Exactly. Plus this SuperDae dude has no technical knowledge to tell exactly what he's seeing. After all he couldn't even tell which class that nvidia graphics card belongs to inside his Alpha dev kit. He had a conversation with a Beyond3d regular Rangers/Special guy on the first alpha dev kit, and from his comments you can simply tell he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Specs cannot change that drastically this late in the game. If these consoles are indeed shipping this year then specs are basically finalized by now. Only thing they can really change is clockspeeds.

I would not be surprised if multiplats played better on the "inferior" Durango next gen.

Just like the "inferior" 360.

We won't known until the products are out and we get some reviews.

I hope they are both good products, and I hope they give each other alot of good competition.

Funny how most well know fanboys in here never trust rumors unless it favors somehow the company/upcoming console they support !!

All this rumor war, and fanboys don't even realise that Xbox 3 being powerful would also help Sony and vice versa.

Durango and Orbis being similar and powerful will help devs, and consequently gamers. The only reason 360 and PS3 games ended up looking as good as they do, in ancient handware, was because the were comparable and both companies spent all gen trying to push their systems to their max.
