Sony's attitude towards a powerful console for next generation has certainly changed compared to their attitude during the development of the PS3.KC_Hokie

There has been a lot of talk regarding the beginning of the nextgenerationconsoles. With the PlayStation 3 nearing 5 years in the market this November, people are already talking about it's succesor the PlayStation 4.

In an interesting interview,James Armstrong, VP SCEE, (CEO SCE Spain+Portugal) had made some interesting statements about the PlayStation 4.

When asked about how Sony will accelerate plans regarding the launch of the successor to the PS3, he said:

As I said before, I think PS3 still has great life.This year inSpainwe have the foresight to sell500,000 consoles.And if true, may well become the best-selling entertainment system in our country during this 2011.In what marks the fifth year of Wii market, Nintendo has announced a new platform that will surely launch late next year.As we will see, wish them good luck.

He also thinks that Sony's next console may not have better visuals but will have a betteraccessible experience and will also betargetedtowards girls.

It's hard to say right now.I do not think we'll have a console with a lot better graphics than the PS3 currently offered.I believe the future will be to offer consumers better and more accessible experience .The aim will be to make more people enter the world of video games and try to design titles for women.

I´d say that if MGS4 qualifies as a shooter,then I guess it´s only fair to include the three Uncharted games in there as well.

why are you putting in a game like mgs4 but leaving out games like pdz and halo 4

plus he did say it is the shooter console now, sounds like hes talking about recently

I guess it depends on the focus. It seems that Sony aren't aiming to be the most powerful console at release, and they're not launching an entirely new format with the PS4 (which would obviously drive up costs with PS3s development).

I'd like to see how it plays out, but i'm guessing MS may be the one out of the gates wiuth the more powerful system.

You guys, I think that they are still trying to draft what will the console be, so I wouldnt say that this is the exact plan for the PS4.

Well I think Sony will keep-up with MS in case they bring out the next Xbox but I expect the PS4 to come out later and use more cheaply hardware (think a supped-up Cell with more memory and a better graphics chip; should be enough for true HD gaming with 3D support).

Yes they have, guess they forgot who the heck built them up to what they are. I wanna a current tech system... Not a repacked POS with fruity motion controllers... Would have bought a wii, kinect or move if I did.
