With Sony's financial issues they'd be in danger of going out of the console business if the PS4 struggled in sales.

And MS would get increasing pressure from MS investors to drop out if Xbone struggled in sales.

Both are selling well atm.

Just like cows now suddenly give massives fucks about it when last gen it didn't matter because "it's the same game, who cares. PS3 has better exclusives".

I think a lot of the people who were lems last gen switched to PS4. So I wouldn't say it's a complete lem phenomenon only. I think people realize that their console isn't doing too hot so they try to put their own spin on it to feel better.

Just like how PlayStation fanboys used to say "sales don't matter; I can't play sales" and now they have an orgasm every month when the NPD results come in and create threads to brag about it.

Or how PlayStation fanboys never cared about having the superior version of multiplats for 17 years, but now that a PlayStation console has the best version of multiplats for the first time ever, they suddenly think it is the most important thing in the world and bash Xbox for having slightly worse multiplats. Xbox 720 lol. The difference between multiplats was far greater between the original Xbox and the PS2, but it didn't matter back then to cows.

Or how PlayStation fanboys used to always say that Bungie and Halo are overrated, but then they hyped up Destiny as the biggest thing ever.

Or how PlayStation fanboys always love to call Microsoft evil whenever they pay a developer for exclusive content, but they have no problem when Sony does the same thing like how they paid Bungie for exclusive content and to market the game as a PlayStation exclusive.

Or how this gen, PlayStation fanboys love to say that PS4 is "By gamers for gamers" and that Sony is focused on gamers first and not on multimedia like Microsoft, but they didn't seem to have a problem during the PS3 launch when Sony was more focused on using the PS3 to make bluray successful than on gamers and actually said things like "PlayStation 3 is not a game machine".

The PS3 got several superior version over the xbox 360 to,and exclusives mopped the floor with the xbox all gen long.

Both sides flip flop like crazy. The worst last gen was how sales mattered between 360 and PS3 but when the real leader, the Wii was brought up the argument changed to 3rd party support and graphics.

What matters depends on what category each faction is winning. That's why things like Metacritic and 1080p are so popular now. Native 720p was not a big deal last gen. Did we get resolution threads before every game launch? And who cared about Metacritic before TLOU flopped?
