Here's a list of some new information from the files.

  • HD Rumble's technical name is a Linear resonant actuator
  • When in handheld mode, the Switch will have an unlock screen like a smartphone to prevent accidental waking.
  • The Switch features a Quick Menu. Press and hold the HOME Button for at least one second to display the Quick Settings screen on top of all other screens, including the HOME Menu and any applications. Unlike the 3DS, the active software will not be suspended when this menu is invoked
  • The Switch's keyboard will feature predictive text such as those on iOS and Android
  • System Settings will allow the user to edit the following settings:
  • Flight Mode Toggle
  • Enable/Disable Bluetooth
  • Manage Wi-fi
  • Manage NFC
  • Manage screen brightness
  • Screen lock
  • User Settings
  • Create/Edit Mii
  • Theme management
  • Controller management
  • System Update
  • Miis will have more options for hair, eyebrows, eyes, facial hair, glasses, mouths, and skin.
  • Miis will not store the creator's name, their favorites, and their birthday anymore. Anyone can edit Mii characters
  • Developers can create and sell Season Passes for their games
  • This document confirms an X1 like SoC using Maxwell on the final retail version
  • There are NO plans to provide an Internet Browser at this stage but developers are able to access a web applet to display specific websites within their game/app
  • A maximum of 8 users can be registered on a system
  • Friend requests and game invites CAN be sent from the console.
  • "Friend Presence is a feature that uses the Internet to convey information in real time about the online status of friends and the applications they are playing. Among possibilities, we see this being used in the application to check whether friends are in the joinable state, and to use the Friend List system feature screen to show what applications friends are playing."
  • A Nintendo Account can be linked to multiple Switches BUT save data is not automatically synchronised
  • There are TWO dev kit devices: SDEV and EDEV
  • SDEV - Has built-in ports; no built-in battery
  • EDEV - Resembles the retail product exactly but is black color
  • Game cards come in 1 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, or 32 GB variations.

Things will not have changed dramatically by then, even if this information is from last year.

If 32 GB is the maximum size for the game cards that could be a big problem for 3rd party games.

Why do you care what 3rd party thinks? 3rd party should worried more if their games sells, not where to put their games!

Their games would sell more on the other platforms. 3rd party games are important for the Switch's success.

What's the point of this as a mobile unit if it only lasts 3hrs. What's the HDD capacity anyway, 32gb again?

Majority of space wasted is due to lossless audio. Uncompressed Sound files are huge! Why else did Elder Scrolls V Skyrim was able to fit in a DVD? I'm okay with compressed Audio as I'm not an Audiophile and can't really tell a difference between compressed and uncompressed.

With Eurogamer's reveal on Switch clock speeds (especially the GPU) the docked mode turns out 393 GFlops (at 768 Mhz) while the undocked / portable mode turns out 157 GFlops (at 307 MHz).

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nintendo-switch-spec-analysis

https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/5j65em/nintendo_switch_cpu_and_gpu_clock_speeds_revealed/

Switch is not even remotely comparable to Xbox One (1310 GFlops / 1.3 TFlops)

Wii U's GPU by comparison, was 176 GFlops (at 550 MHz).

That depends if you plan on either going all digital or physical based. Going physical saves a ton of HDD space as there is no need to install games. The only worrisome is if game need big patches or DLC and Mods. But that's why Nintendo future proofed the external SD space to go up to 2 TB SD cards when they become available and affordable. IMO, 128 GB SD card should be plenty for me, as I only go Physical based and play a few VC games on the go.

WOW, this thing is barely even double the speed of the WiiU and slower when undocked. The Pro and the Scorpio are more than double the speed of their predecessor and they are not even next gen. LOL. Switch gamers are paying more for less. They are spending $300 for no backward compatibility and will be rebuying last gen games with no graphical improvements. The very least Nintendo could have done was to have BC with 3DS games.

Scorpio is literally going to be 15 times (edit: yes, that's fifteen times) more powerful than Switch in docked mode.

Switch release: early March - Scorpio release: most likely November.

GFlops don't matter a ton for the power of the console since it's using a more modern design probably like the WiiU. The console won't be as powerful as the xbox one or ps4 but it should be more powerful then people think. The console should easily pass 360 and PS3 games graphically unlike the WiiU.

But power is a gimmick so why are you paying attention all of a sudden? Graphics are a gimmick and so is power. Nintendo doesn't need em because they have a WiiU port that will sell their brand new 2017 console.

PCs can have an almost unlimited budget in what people can spend on a build. So what.

Switch and Scorpio are both consoles, releasing this year. Switch is $299 and Scorpio will be anywhere from $399 to $499 max.

Okaaaaaay... so why are you mentioning "its more powerful than we thought"? Its a weak console. Very weak. The weakest we've ever seen in the gaming industry. Forget power. Forget games in the first year. You're getting a Zelda port and a Mario title 10 months later. That's your Switch, be ready to Switch it off and let it collect dust for months.

Oh my goodness there is a crypto extension!

Seriously though the most interesting parts of this are of course the not yet official details about the online service. However a lot of this info is quite old and we know it got constant updates... so it is kinda useless. In 3 weeks we will know a lot more. (I mean I sure hope so XD)

When Xbone from 2013 looks powerful next to your next gen console, there is a huge problem.

Yeah it can run Unreal 4. At what settings and graphical detail? Newer engines scale very well. It doesn't mean they will remotely resemble the same engine with everything turned on.

If 32 GB is the maximum size for the game cards that could be a big problem for 3rd party games.

Data compression. All that uncompressed data on a Blu-ray is to counteract the media's slow read speed. These cards won't suffer from that bottleneck.

And how many games these days are larger than 32GB when not accounting for compression? Just throwing a bunch of uncompressed data into a file is lazy development.

Something to consider. Using the Switch as the base

Xbox One = 3x Switch when docked or 6x Switch when undock

PS4 = 4.5x Switch when docked or 9x Switch when undock

PS4 Pro = 10.5x Switch when docked or 21x Switch when undock

Scorpio = 15x Switch when docked or 30x Switch when undock

1 tflop? Sounds like BS. If you had told me any of the Switch launch games were running on a GameCube it would be totally believable. I love me some Zelda but I'm gonna wait for the Switch "lite" when it hits $150... maybe. For all you early adopters... good luck.
