Objectively PC version has better AO (if DE even has any at all), better shadows, tesselation, better textures, better TressFX quality. It also has more tetailed objects in the environment.

Console version has different (subjectively better or worse) trees and character's eyes.

Objectively console version has better skin due to subsurface scattering and models attatched to the character model (guns, radio, arrows) jiggle when the character moves. Trees and plants are better animated.

Pick your poison. "Better" is not painting an accurate picture.

So, aparently the PS4 version is using a newer and more advanced version of the game engine, yet as these GIFs show it still manages to look worse than the PC version.

The first GIF is a right laugh, look at her face on the PS4 version and the texture on that tree...

Second GIF, hair still floats 2 inches above her shoulders, foliage may look slightly better ...or just different.

Third GIF, theres no DOF in the PS4 version? + stupid PS4 Lara model again, she looks like shes made of plastic, whats up with her eyes?

ok i could really see this at first cause i was at work on my phone, but now that I'm home the "definitive" version has more assets but honestly doesn't really look better in terms of quality of image.

^ proper gif here. Theres alot of pics/videos with the new ps4 model Lara and she looks horrendous. The ps4 version looks way too artificial with alot less emotions/expressions. They butchered Lara. It can't match the ultra settings of PC version. PC version remains best version. You're living in a dream world if you think otherwise.

PS: PS4 Lara's face and eyes are extremely laughable. Indeed permanent turd mode face! haha

Those gifs don't back up that claim too well. Also I'd expect some parts to be better as they are updating the engine and supposedly adding extra effects that the PC version doesn't have. I haven't seen that big a difference personally though but that's what the devs are saying

The PS4 version does not look better. It has less blur and brighter lighting. The textures aren't nearly as clear/crisp.

My thoughts exactly. Their loyalty for a piece of plastic has blinded them utterly.

biggest difference is a bit more foliage, PC version could have easily had way more foliage, sucks we didn't get that instead we got the exact same as consoles

Also the log texture looks worse, i thought the textures were going to be 4x better than PC? it's more like 4x worse

PC version easily still looks better. But the PS4 does have Hillbilly Raider, dat inbreeding.

They look identical and the PC version lack objects and has almost zero wind impact...

Pc version also has larger view distance. So yeah, pretty much better in most respects.

The foliage and the physics based movements/animations are nice though. Thing is, they aren't there on the PC because the devs chose not to put them there, not because the PC can't RUN these things. That's ahuge difference between games on PC and game son last gen consoles, and yet consolite where downplaying differences that were a LOT larger than what we see here.

I know that is the reason and i already say that the PC version should look better on another thread,it was lack of effort of CD on the game,but considering those Max out setting are not running on a $400 dollar PC i say wow the PS4 did a nice job.

I am not rolling anything there are certain things that look better on the PS4 screen show,but like i already say on another thread nothing stop CD from making a patch that will add anything missing on the PC version.

No. My friend running a $120 GPu and $100 CPu managed ultra settings on PC. This game is not Crysis 3.

Graphics wise the PC looks just as good or better in some areas. And it could be that they're not comparable because they are running different versions of the game

i'm playing this on a 100 pound 2gb 7850 ( albeit overclocked at 1050Mhz ) and a 4year old phenom II and i play on ultra with tress fx and all and still manage to pull more than 40fps average. This aint crysis 4 or Battlefield 4 nor a bad port ala assasins creed 4

I still think the PC version looks better overall.

Goddamn! At first I thought people were being picky but in those screens, new Laura looks like shit.

It's subjective as you can't easily compare more visual effects in the definitive edition with the standard benefits the PC version still has.

I'm digging the improved lighting, denser foliage, and sway in trees of the PS4 version. Looks like the PS4 version is better to me. Will pick this up as soon as my Gamestop gets it, hopefully by Monday.
