@Pedro: that's actually why i started this - i got a bit paranoid that the first one would leave GP before too long and the sequel looks great

@BassMan:
Man, so Hollow Knight started as expected - very good. Always heard high praise from fans of the sub-genre, and everything I saw looked nice. But I never expected it to ramp up to something so great. Beware the honeymoon phase of course, but strong contender for my favorite metroidvania.
Obviously doesn't have the platforming chops of something like Ori, mechanics that could work in a pure level based platformer in their own right. Yet still tight enough for the action platformer category and they come together extremely well for the games many boss fights.
But that damn world/level design is what takes it over the top for me. The best exploration I've experienced in a 2d game, every bit as clever as Super Metroid or Symphony of the Knight and then some. Also maintains the steady rewarding drip feed of SotN, but without caving the games balance as a result. Just constantly something new, being pulled in a dozen different directions, each unfolding into more points of interest.

Anyways, more screens. 😁
@briguyb13:
Right, now for the deathmatch between Hollow Knight and Shovel Knight!
jk, love both, couldn't choose. 😂
Damn though, as if I didn't already think 2017 was a stacked year. Hollow Knight just amps it up that much more.

How far along are you? Silk Song will likely come out this year sometime.

Hard to say, not at a point where I can see my percentage yet. Seems I have most items and skills unlocked, but then again I only have like 22% of the chievos lol.
Yeah, wasn't even looking forward to Silk Song, but now that I'm into this, watched some gameplay last night. Looks dope, definitely a day 1.

The difficulty ramps up a bit, but nothing too extreme. At one point I almost gave up, but glad I stuck with it to the end. Lots of secrets and optional bosses too.
@briguyb13:
Nice, yeah that kind of stuff is my jam.
I've been tackling the "dream" version of bosses as they come up. Like Broken Vessel > Lost Kin. Soul Master > Soul Tyrant. But I've had to retreat from others before coming back with better shit.
I'll probably go for full completion as long as it's not too absurd. So far the toughest thing I've come across is delivering that flower across the map without getting hit. A job for later lol.
@ConanTheStoner: I think there's a cheevo for completing the game without dying. LOL they cray cray.
@briguyb13:
lol yeah, no, that's some meme difficulty shit. That's like Doom on ultra nightmare, no thanks.
I can see getting through most of HK without dying, not like I die often. But some of those bosses? Yeah man, you'd have to memorize so many patterns, that's just crazy.
Props to those who do it, won't be me lol.
Early portions of Valhalla, took those screens when I first started the game. I should probably get some of my current progress.
@jasonofa36: I kinda wish that upcoming Bad Batch show was just Republic Commandos. They are still technically canon thanks to based Clone Wars.
Game was suppose to get a sequel as well. Be dope to have a modern version without the limitations of the Xbox.

For sure. Had to jump through some hoops just to get the game look good on modern hardware, like FOV and bump maps and stuff. Mouse sensitivity is also over the place. I wouldn't mind a remaster of Republic Commando TBH. Still plays well, despite its age.
@lundy86_4: I loved Dex, seeing this makes me wanna replay it
I bought it, forgot it existed, and was so bored that I booted it up. Really glad I did, as I wasn't expecting it to be much of anything. Combat is bog-standard, but I really like the rest.
@jasonofa36: ^ A fan patch.
Played it again last year. For an Xbox game, the presentation is extremely impressive right down to the Metroid visor gimmick and Viking inspired "Vode An" giving a distinctly unique, but perfectly fitting score.
Believe problem is more the limitation in level structure where it's short, tight corridor after tight corridor along with it's limited command system.
If it was any other game probably just write it off, but it's execution of the IP elevates its shortcomings.

Same deal here. I think I might have even gotten it free on GoG or packaged in with Humble Bundle, so I didn't really pay it much mind.
Installed it on a whim (back catalog clearing, maybe) and enjoyed it. Simple, but satisfying. Surprisingly good writing and iirc voice acting.
I should go finish it. IIRC it's a small install, I can afford to have it on my system for a few months.

Yeah, it really was pretty damn good. Just a few sidequests missed, but I did mostly everything.
I think it clocks in at 6GB or so, so it's not too big at all.
Unfortunately my first experience with this game wasn't positive. Apparently it's like that, Ninjo Gayden game people play? Chose master difficulty and was having problems. Upon checking the forums and with people who play this genre that setting is designs for when the character has leveled up and unlocked the tools to deal with specific enemies, namely ranged. Which begs the question, why is the game letting me blunder in without warning?
Give it another shake.
Been playing through Resi Remake for a bit of a change.
Started Resi Zero today, and i'll do another run with REmake 2 and 3.
I honest would like to see a very high budget game with those fixed angles or even pre-rendered. I'd assume the game would look amazing.

With the updated controls, the fixed angles aren't that big of an issue, so i'd like to see something like old-school RE. Though, I do think REmake 2 & 3 were really good as an evolution of the series, but 3 suffered from feeling kinda rushed.
