No wonder Nvidia passed on the consoles.

More League of Legends viewers than the Stanley Cup? Damn...
Yeah, that stat is total bull because Nielsen ratings are infamous for being under representative of their audiences, as well as it doesn't capture international data. It also doesn't take into account that a LoL tourney runs across 3 days where the Stanley Cup Finals runs across 2 weeks and potentially 7 games, while maintaining that high audience. That's not to put down LoL though -- it has a great draw and no game comes close to meeting it outside of DOTA 2 --, but when they compare viewership to traditional sports, it's always laughable.

But it says it was the stanley Final...wouldn't that mean they're referring to the last game in the finals?
Stronk. That's like a pronunciation thingk.
It's a play on a League of Legends' character quotes.
"Mundo too stronk for you!".

We don't know, the graphic is ambiguous for a reason, the same reason they don't mention that a typical weekly NHL game on NBC Sunday's draws 1-2 million while League only draws that for major tournaments. That's not to say it's impossible for LOL to get a traditional sports audience. It certainly can for things like Worlds, but remember that even a non-finals playoff game can draw massive audiences in Round 1 (such as Penguins versus Boston, or Montreal versus New York, etc), audiences larger than LOL does for it's finals.
Concerning just the Cup Finals, if you combined the Canadian, US and European audiences for the Cup Finals (yes, Russia watches), it would be pretty massive, although US-wise LOL could potentially beat it. Hockey doesn't always go over well in the US if the teams aren't from hockey hotbeds such as Boston, Minnesota, New York or the Atlantic. Unfortunately, gathering TV-watching data is archaic and rarely gives you a picture of total viewers whereas stream viewers is much easier.
PC gaming is becoming more and more accessible to everyone. Given that the latest APU's and intergrated graphics chips in the new Intel chips are capable of running most 7th gens at medium settings, more and more people are able to game on their PC's.
God. It's amazing what graphics can be included integrated onto the same bit of silicon as the CPU. Also, Intel - their graphics have come a long way. Pretty much entry level, but I'm still suitably impressed.
Clyde, I got a question for you man. On this forum I find you impartial / neutral, but lately I've noticed a lot of people calling you a lemming. Why? Why would people get an idea like that in their head?

Because I call Cows out on their BS. It seems they don't like that :P
PC gaming seems to be getting stronger each year. I believe as gamers get older they want a more mature platform that they have a greater degree of control over and a larger library to choose from.
The PC is the only logical platform for a long-time gamer. Consoles can be bought and played but they can never replace the gaming experience one gets from a gaming PC.

Do you also call out Lems on their BS as well?
Not trying to be a smartass, as you are one the better posters on GS. Just wondering if you keep things on an even level.
I've the feeling most of those million PC "gamers" are included on the flash games/MMO only players
People who play MMO's aren't consider gamers now? I guess going by that logic that people who bought a PS3 for its Blu-Ray player aren't allowed to be counted in console sales....

Nor should the 20+ million Kinect owners, or the 20 million people who only play CoD.
And don't even get me started on the Nintendo Wii. Wii Sports gamers are not REAL gamers like us >:(
Ahh, the old "MMO" dont count.
Even though they
1. Have more gameplay and content than most console genres.
2. Higher skillcap than 99% of console genres. Resulting in real competitive scenes, something consoles do not have.
3. More difficult content. Period. (not including PVP, see #2)
Well then most Wii and other motion games, CoD type games, Kinect games, and Movie-Games don't count either. Oops there goes 50% of console sales.
Interesting to see how much more aggresively Nvidia will market PC-gaming this gen as they have no stake at all in the consoles. Wonder what they can achieve together with Valve.

MMO's are considered difficult now? Lawl.

That may be the case, but they still contribute to the overall PC market. And MMO... well, expect for it to be a pretty major genre on next gen consoles... just take a look at the PS4 launch line-up...

Oh, and I accidentally clicked "Flag" on your post, is this the new kind of reporting?
If any mod sees this, it was a mistake... and reporting shouldn't involve only one click, especially with the option so close to "Quote".
good to see the RTS and F2P games are even more popular than ever on the PC environment. ;)
Count the genres: Get destroyed.

do you just assume every post about PC is negative?

Well, it was a negative in this case, he's a cow, and cows aren't really known for the PC love (aside from when they're hiding behind it)! :P
They'll change their tune as F2P becomes more and more prevalent on consoles, though.

One is a heavily localised sport, while the other is a completely international e-sport. Personally I've never heard of Stanley Cup until this thread, but then again a lot of people don't really pay attention to ice hockey, or have even seen ice hockey before. More widespread sports like soccer will of course attract more viewers.
@Vatusus: So people who play MMO aren't gamers nice logic there but honestly someone like kinda lacked it in the first place
