Yeah they announced it about a month ago. Either way it's good news for people who already made the upgrade.

Windows XP is dated.. Windows 7 happens to be very good if not better then XP.

Who still uses XP? Win 7 64-bit is what all gaming PC's should have.

That has nothing to do with it. XP does not support DX9. Now if you would have said, "Making it run in DX9 is a waste of time and resources", you would be absolutely correct.

Not a problem. If you're a PC gamer and you don't have a modern O.S. then I don't know what to say to you.

crysis and witcher 2 are using direct x 9 but BF3 will not be using so either they are lazy or BF3 will beat Crysis graphically badtaker

Developers know that some people are still on XP but you have to move on at some point.

Besides, it's only $100 USD to upgrade to Win 7...

I'm still rocking Windows XP with a Core 2 Duo E6400, 2GB of RAM and a 7900GS but I'm upgrading to a nice gaming laptop after I graduate High School in a few months. Surprisingly I can run Crysis and Arma II on my computer, just not very good :P Crysis 2 is playable, Arma II is well...it runs but not very well. :P I don't own either of those games and I mainly play Valve games. :P

Honestly, the gap between the releases of Windows 3.1 and Windows 98 is shorter than the gap between the releases of XP and 7. Did anybody expect games like Half-Life or Grim Fandango to support Windows 3.1? XP is extremely antiquated these days, a modern gaming PC shouldn't be running it.

There is an unlicensed Alpha build of DirectX10 that's free to download. This allows a build of DirectX10 to work allowing an OS such as XP to run DirectX10 games.

I don't know if the build has been updated yet. But for those of you (like myself) who use XP, this is a viable option. I hated Vista so I downgraded my laptop and my desktop. I'm not a die hard PC gamer, so upgrading to Windows 7 and getting better hardware to complement it is not a priority for me. So having DirectX10 finally on XP is a big deal so I can play the handful of games I'm missing.

Im sure people will find a way to do it. Crysis on Ultra settings was Vista only right? Wrong. Plus, Frostbite 1.5 works on XP. Its not crazy to assume that same for 2.0.

Anyone see the 10 minute BF3 gameplay I posted earlier? My thread was closed for some reason.

Windows XP does support directx 9.0c which includes shader model 3.0. It however does not support directx 10 or 11. I assume you made a typo and meant XP doesn't support dx 10/11.

If you like XP so much just have a dual boot win7 and XP.

XP is beyond dated, if not unusable because of the 3 GB RAM limit.

Windows 7 is better in every possible way, from UI, to memory management. XP is 10 years old, time to move on.
