MS:Killer Instinct is a success. Will revive more IPS Etc.

you're curious how well the new Killer Instinct on Xbox One has performed, wonder no more. The head of Microsoft Studios, and corporate vice president, Phil Spencer left a tweet briefly addressing the new title's performance.

"Success with KI was a good sign and you'll see some more IP return," said Spencer.

The fact that Killer Instinct has performed so well that Microsoft is thinking of resurrecting some of the other IPs is definitely good news for fighting game fans, as it means there's been yet another successful title in recent memory.

Fighting game releases have been a bit of a mixed bag these last few years.

Injustice: Gods Among Us and Mortal Kombat 9 have beenstrong performers

for NetherRealm Studios, with the latter game selling close to 4 million units.

On the other end of the spectrum, titles like Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter X Tekken, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Marvel vs. Capcom: Origins and Darkstalkers Resurrection, among others, performed below their respective company's expectations.

Regardless, Killer Instinct being marked as a success is good news for the FGC, as it shows there's still a solid interest in fighting games on the next generation consoles.

Huh.............This is very good for MS and gamers. Maybe a new PD or Banjo or Age of Empires?

New system launch and this is one of the very few games on it, of course it will do well because xbox one doesn't exactly have a deep bench because its still not and hasn't built much of a library of games. Doesn't make it good or not, or that future ventures will yield much in the way of gains.

Good to see Killer Instinct's revival was a success, Double Helix did an amazing job on the game. Now if only Microsoft didn't hold up Spinal coming out until the end of this month...

Glad to hear the game has done well. I was a huge fan of the game on SNES. RARE has a number of IPs I'd love to see resurrected.

Okay, we'll take your PR word for it Mr. Phil Spencer Man. Hey, good Xbone news in headlines is good PR in general. It gets the fans wet with speculation and imagination. The execs are still trying to turn the ship around anyways, if a single tweet can build positive press and build this much excitement, keep tweeting away. Apparently it's a very effective and cheap way to market brands. Fans will froth at the mouth when you make such broad suggestions, I know I almost did until I read the source.

Also, I see they might bring back old IPs (what else where they going to do, he already said that in the past). I'm not looking forward to them hiring sub-tier or unknown developers to resurrect these IPs since they fired the actual teams.

Having said all that, I would enjoy a Rare created new Conker provided they hire back a bunch of fired Rare talent, Phantom Dust, or Battletoads.

Personally though, I would LOVE them to concentrate on NEW IPs, but I'll take classic IPs if they hire the right talent for the job.

Haha it's EZ-Mode KI! The combo system is way more simple compared to the old school KI.

Great news I'm glad it did well, Capcom missed an opportunity by not supporting next Gen launches, for now I jumped ship to KI for my fighting game needs and honestly it is more enjoyable online compared to the SF games of last Gen, the netcode is top notch and I barely noticed any lag whatsoever.

It is inexcusable that last Gen arcade sticks don't work on the X1, and this forced me to buy the new TE stick, otherwise the KI experience has been great, looking forward to what's next.

Reviving Conker would be a smart idea, played the crap out of it on the N64 and Live and Reloaded on the original Xbox.

This just in: M$ has revealed that they will be reviving Halo, Gears, and Forza all within the next year and a half. Get hype...again.

Good news for KI. Now I need Crackdown, Conker, and a couple of quality RPG's pronto:)

I'd like to see them revive Panzer Dragoon, at least so far as seeing HD remake of Orta.

Would love a new Conker game if they did it right.

Right, that's what I'm talking about. RARE Ltd is working on 2 exclusive games right now for XB1 and they aren't Kinect games. I'm hoping one of them is Conkers. The other might be PDZ or maybe a huge surprise like Battletoads.

Well Killer Instinct was a RARE Ltd game and Microsoft owns RARE, so it'll be exclusive as long as M$ still owns the company. Sony or Nintendo can easily go back and reboot some of their games.

You haven't played it, so how would you know. lmao!!

The game is awesome. The timing is just about perfect. Only flaws is some of the moves are very hard to pull of during heater battles. Can't wait for all the rest of the characters to be released.

Sure it can. Bungie did and so did Respawn for the most part.

It's harder for studios that were create by a big company to seperate from it. They are usually just closed and the developers go their seperate ways or form a new studio.

Is that because of good netcode or the thing where the game makes up moves and inputs for your opponent when the lag gets bad. Some people recorded a match they had against each other and it was like two completely different fights at times.

Anyways, I've said it for a while but Rare is dead. Without Nintendo breathing down their neck and smacking them in the back of the head whenever they did something done, Rare blows. It's telling that they only successful reviving of a Rare IP was the one not actually made by Rare.

MS allowed Bungie to go Independent. (not sure why, they couldve made Destiny exclusive)

Awesome awesome news :) This is the kind of announcement I was waiting for before getting an X1. KI just wasn't enough by itself. If they announce a new conker or other sleeping IP that I absolutely loved, it is game over. Sounds like I will be getting an X1 sooner than I thought.

Maybe they will give Rare another shot now... maybe. I mean what do they have to lose? If they let Rare produce one of their sleeper IP's it will sell by the BOATLOAD just because Rare made it.... Even if it sucked.. they would gain money, and if the game was bad they could put a lid back on Rare... win/win situation.

Such a success that the next patch to actually put in content that should have been there at launch (sorry, "Season 2) has been delayed from this month. Wonder if they'll fix the rage quitting problem before then too.
