"On a technical level, Last Light is leaps and bounds beyond 2033, increasing texture quality through the use of incredibly detailed 2048x2048 textures, and geometric detail through the use of extra environmental and object-based tessellation. And like its predecessor, Metro: Last Light also features hardware-accelerated NVIDIA PhysX effects that enable the realistic destruction of scene objects during combat, and the enhancement of other game elements, like particle effects."

"For Metro: Last Light, developer 4A Games has optimized the 4A Engine, ensuring it runs far faster than the version seen in 2033, even when theres more action and more technology on-screen in Last Light."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minimum System Requirements - To run the game.

Windows: XP (32-Bit), Vista, 7 or 8
CPU: 2.2 GHz Dual Core
RAM: 2GB

Windows: Vista, 7 or 8
CPU: 2.6 GHz Quad Core, e.g. Intel Core i5
RAM: 4GB
Direct X: 11
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 580 or 660 Ti / AMD Radeon HD 7870/7950

Optimum System Requirements - To play maxed out at 2560 x 1440 or 2560 x 1600.

Windows: Vista, 7 or 8
CPU: 3.4 GHz Multi-Core, e.g Intel Core i7 2600k/3770k - AMD FX-8350

megaspiderweb09

Wut? it's not on PS4, and you wouldn't have graphic options to choose anyway

OOoh sure it isnt on PS4 but the developers could be tempted to port it, however i just wana know where the PS4's spec fall into, low, optimum, high...in layman terms

Probably High. Game seems to be pretty demanding. The PS4's GPU is equivalent to a 7870 and its CPU isn't all that powerful.

Well, the PS4 uses a GPU akin to a GTX560Ti. A 560ti is about half as powerful as a 580 (give or take), so a PS4 would probably run it at about medium settings.

btw PS4 owners? Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves?

The graphics do look very very good, the lighting is supposed to be very advanced

However it will probably be unoptimized like Metro 2033, 4A are clearly not the best programmers, forcing v-sync with 2033 gave you about a 15-20 fps boost for some reason

They never really define what resolution/framerate is recommended, im sure a 480 could play it at max settings in 720p at a good framerate

Well in an "optimum" world everyone would have high end systems.

But really, what is the point of having optimum specs listed? It's just to sell NVIDIA cards, they probably have some sort of deal.

As long as they give me a proper suite of options this time it'll be fine. 2033's biggest problem was that it limited you to presets and didn't elt you customise.

At least now if they have say a shadows option I can knock that down cos Shadows take a lot to run in a game like this I'd imagine and the liklehood is that medium shadows won't look hugely different unless you stare at them

You know the guy from the Metro team who posts on GAF? He said he had a 580 and the game ran pretty well near maxed. I think Titans etc are just to run it constant 60+ maxed out

Yeah, and since the Metro games are some of the best 3D Vision games out there, if you want to go 3D I bet a titan could handle 60fps... or damn near. I

I already knew I was gonna max the game out. Now if it's better optimized then Metro 2033... My frames shouldn't dip below 60 FPS ever.

From the sound of it, it seems they'll have better optimization at least in terms of the CPU.

"optimum" means "best case scenario", so of course they'll recommend a 680SLI and a titan, same reason they recommend an i7 and 8GB RAM.

What do you expect? It's a very demanding game, and sponsored by Nvidia. Nvidia has a new expensive graphics card they want to sell. You know that some poor chump will buy one because he thinks he needs it.

lol not optimum anyway, probably high or maybe high with a mix of medium. But that's absing it off a console we haven't seen in action yet and a game we haven't played or tested out.

These spec sheets are usually different to real world scenarios. All we can do is talk about what's on paper, and I think the PS4s CPU could let it down

Well, the PS4 uses a GPU akin to a GTX560Ti. A 560ti is about half as powerful as a 580 (give or take), so a PS4 would probably run it at about medium settings.

The PS4's GPU is something between AMD 7850 and 7870, and those are better than the GTX 560TI. It can probably do a mix between High settings and Very High setings, especially if it's optimized to run at 30 fps.

Graphics do look great and it looks like you need a beast system to almost max this game. I will check it out on PS4 (If it comes out), so the game is optimized on one peice of hardware.

Yeah, that was stupid on my part. Just curious, but what did you oc your 560ti to? I have my core clock at 950Mhz, Shader at 1900Mhz, and Memory at 2100. I never realize it might be as good as a 580

I'm pretty impressed by the graphics, it's the first game in 2 years that made me think "wow".  Everything looks like it's been given specific attention and that's the biggest thing about it, no copy paste action.

It just sucks that the 360 version will probably be absolute dog shit, I wish Ps4 was out already.

Well, the PS4 uses a GPU akin to a GTX560Ti. A 560ti is about half as powerful as a 580 (give or take), so a PS4 would probably run it at about medium settings.

btw PS4 owners? Aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves?

A 560Ti is NOT half the power of a 580, the fvck you talkin about. I had a 560Ti and I was easily able to overclock it to 580 levels

Yeah, that was stupid on my part. Just curious, but what did you oc your 560ti to? I have my core clock at 950Mhz, Shader at 1900Mhz, and Memory at 2100. I never realize it might be as good as a 580

I had 2, one gave up after a year so I exchanged it for a new one. The first one I got to 950MHz like yours on the core but the second one I got to 1050MHz. Now I have a 670 though

Not to worry, my 2 670s combined are above a Titan anyways.

Chozofication

I don't see why it wouldn't. Given that the next gen consoles are just gimped PCs, they could just take the PC code and port it over real easily. I wouldn't be surprised if companies like Square Enix port the PC versions of games like Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, and Hitman over to the PS4. It's an easy thing to do and they could potentially make decent money from it if they offer it at a good price.

Well in an "optimum" world everyone would have high end systems.

But really, what is the point of having optimum specs listed? It's just to sell NVIDIA cards, they probably have some sort of deal.

This exactly. Some people really need the insane resolution with 3 monitors up and 3d, with 120FPS with full AA on, and everything cranked to max. Those are the people who buy the Titan, or SLI 690GTX and end up spending $3000 on a rig. I'm happy for them and I do envy them and really wish I could join them. But the truth of the matter is I dont really need that. I have a laptop with a single 7970m and im content with the output i get. Sure I cant max everything with AA at resolutions at 1080p, but I dont need to. In fact, even in games where my computer is more than able to handle it, I dont even turn on AA. Its really not an issue for me. Aliasing doesnt bother me at all. For instance on Bioshock Infinite, I get around 60 FPS without AA and around 45-55 with it on. Do I really want to spend the extra money just so I can turn on the AA? Not really. Optimum is for the people who can afford it and are sticklers for this type of thing. For most people recommended is more than enough.
