I have played many pretty shooters such as Crysis 3, Metro, FarCry 3, BF4 you name it, many of them pop out so much simply due to a complex lighting engine that renders everything so lively. I know each engine comes with pros and cons, some more so than others but none has really impressed me in such a way like Killzone SF did. Tech wise it's definitely one of the most advanced out there. A full Deferred renderer with HDR, outputting thousands of lights each is volumetric casting volumetric shadows and with Area light property. And on top of a full PBR pipeline with realtime reflection, raytracing and cubemap, you really can't ask for more for a PS4 launch title at this stage. Now it's possible some shooters might have a few things better but the end result whether due to a combination of art and tech, KZ looks the most impressive lighting wise. Now I welcome challenges from vanilla unmodded console or PC games.
