I just beat the 19 hour Resident Evil 4, so I'm gonna wait a while before trying this, but at least the port turned out alright. Who's picking it up?

i dont like horror games but this looks interesting. will pick up during steam sales along with re4, hopefully by then the hd texture pack is finished

i played the cube version back in the day but didnt get very far since i was playing it at a friends house.

Gamespot gave it a 7. Waiting for them to re-post the review but I already made up my mind that I was getting this.

Off topic, but I find it VERY hard to read a supposedly professional review like this one when the writer keeps going "I think... I feel... I love...". What is this, third grade? There are plenty of genres where an I isn't out of place, and sometimes even encouraged, but a "professional" review is not one of them. Sure it's this person's point of view but man does it make it hard to take it seriously when written like this.

Oh and just to make this post fit into this thread: Game looks like shit.

Loves the Residents Evils: preordered a while back.

Only a 7? Well, it probably might be a 7 for modern gamers. But for old-school gamers, it would have to be 8 or 9. I had a blast playing the Wii version on Dolphin just last year.

Either way, it's overall Metacritic scores are really good, with 83% for the PS4 version and 85% for the PC version. Not bad for a 13 year-old remake of a 19 year-old game.

Got my copy preloading now. Picked it up on GMG. Never played Re1 before so Im excited.

Also prepurchased DoA 5 on steam because needs.

I don't like the sharpen filter they put the backgrounds through........it looks bad.

you would also like to see rise of tomb raider on your ps4 cuz that would suck if u bought the first one on ps4 and couldn't finish the saga on it and had to experience it elsewhere

Is HD the only new feature? Then hell no! I already have the Wii version.

Good to hear since I got it pre-ordered :)......love the RE franchise and RE1 is one of the few that I did not get a chance to play properly when it came out back in the day, so will finally get to play it now. Hopefully it will not sell so well though lol, don't want to encourage other developers to keep coming out with these lazy HD ports....we need more new awesome games !

They also added widescreen support (pan and scan) and a "modern" control scheme (i.e. non-"tank"). I'll probably play without either, though.

I loved this one for GameCube. One of my favorite games of all time. Beat it 5 times. Unfortunately, I'm not motivated to buy it again. It was already remade and this seems like it's not worth another go.

REmake looks like the best zombie game since REmake. I have not seen one zombie game since REmake on the Gamecube that even looked remotely interesting.

I heard it's a shitty port.

I'm waiting for a physical release. Don't think that will happen, but maybe it's possible if they remade Re0 as well and bundled the package like the kingdom hearts games on the ps3. I'm also keeping an eye in case they use the HD assets to REmake other RE games. That would be glorious. Imagine RE2 with modern graphics and art style. Or running away from nemesis with more realistic visuals and animations. Do want.

Capcom could add new content to this HD re-release is they were smart. A lot of sections in the GC version showed brand new content the original RE didn't have. But Crapcom is handling this so forget that. I would have been nice to bring new life to the game.

Checked out the first few minutes of RE1. Pretty different from anything Ive played before. Only bummer right now is lack of res support of above 1080p and FXAA.

Wait, you can't go over 1080p??? Only FXAA??? Weird.

It seems to have mixed reviews with Gametrailers.com with 9.2. and GameSpot with 7.0.

Eurolamer gave it a 7 too. That's a lesser score than they gave the Disaster Chief Collection.

I just did 4 again recently and cleared it in 11.5 hours. Which is actually a really fast completion (to be honest I did play it to death back in the day). But I remember my first playthrough being in the 18-20 hour range. And yeah, there's a lot of weirdness in the last part: lots of multi-pronged interconnected corridors and seemingly a savepoint/merchant around every corner.

Doesn't seem worth a purchase to me.

Edited the ini file and got it to 4k at 60fps on my gtx970. Just turned off the fxaa.

I played on game cube already back than and I don't think I can deal with Fix camera now a day so I'll pass!!

REmaster currently has an 84% Metacritic score, i.e. generally favourable reception. Besides the 7's it got from GameSpot, Eurogamer, and Polygon, REmaster got scores in the 8-10 range from all the other dozens of publications that reviewed it.

Thank you Jim Sterling for this timeless response to anyone who keeps trying to say they want objective video game reviews. I never get tired of posting this video.
