If Sunset Overdrive isn't a hit, could Insomniac go under?

I've always liked Insomniac's games... From what I've seen Sunset Overdrive is a fun game and hopefully will do well !!

nah. They could just make an HD remake/remaster of the Spyro games to fill their pockets up again. Everyone's doing it. I'd probably buy it.

Of course it's going to be a hit. Xbox One Owners haven't got much else to play exclusive wise so just like KNACK and RYSE were hits, if it's poor it still going to sell well.

Nah, they have other titles in the pipeline, and one would expect their deal with MS helped mitigate some of the risk anyhow. Plus, MS is buying up a number of licenses to give away in their Sunset Overdrive bundle, so they've already sold a bunch of copies.

if sunset overdrive is proven hit microsoft will buy them so it won't come to another platform

I dont think its gonna be a big deal, as like getting great reviews and hype, but i do think it will sell a good 2 million.

M$ is pushing this game really hard, and it looks casual enough and fun enough to attack a wide audience.

If Ryse and Knack can sell around a million, I'm sure Sunset will do fine.

On the flip side , if it's a large enough hit MS might throw out more cash to make the sequel X1 ( and eventually the original on PC) exclusive.

Right NOW is the time for a huge marketing push to begin. It's a new IP and a fall exclusive. There needs to be more.

IG will not go down under,but their FANBASE (like me) was VERY disheartened when they announced MS exclusive ,99.9% of their fans were on PS , that 00.1% was overstrike,but that was mediocre after EA doomed them. hopefully last exclusive on XBawks

If Knack could sell, I doubt this game is going to have any problem selling.

Impossible to know unless we can get a look at their financials. If they aren't putting all their financial resources into this one game, then they will survive if it fails. If they are, they will definitely go under.

It's not something we as a non-involved group can ever know.

I'd buy it.

They'll make their money back. If not, take a few months to port it to PC and PS4.

Resistance 3 was plenty legit, and I say this as someone who loathes Resistance 1 and 2.

To me it seems like one of those games you won't 'get' until you play it first. I'm going to need a demo. I had no interest in Goldeneye back in the day until I played it first and it's the same thing here.

puhhh-lease, none of these games are known as "colorful" games in the same way as ratchets, LBP, puppeteer or even dragons crown. L4D? really? alan wake? what colors? blue, black and white? lol. i'll give you crackdown but the others you listed are just reeking of trying way too hard.

It honestly just looks boring to me. I have both systems and will be skipping this title as tons of other games are going to be released in the coming months. It seems like it could be fun for a hour or two, but it just looks like it will get boring fast. I feel that way about pretty much all Multi-player games though.

if it doesn't sell well i'm pretty sure insomniac will just release an ultimate edition on the ps4 in about 6 months time.

Sunset Over900p is as bad as Fuse. Hell, Fuse is more fun than Sunset... Hope no one wonders why no one bought this ugly game.

Umm it didn't flop at all. Insomniac themselves stated this and Microsoft did as well.

Games a goodun by all accounts. Insomniac know their chops when they get down to it. Just hurry up with Ratchet and Clank PS4. It's there biggest effort since A Crack In Time so be excited!

Sunset was a great game, and it's a shame you'll probably never try it. I have over 70 hours logged in that game, and I enjoyed each one.

Is that what Sony fanboys are telling themselves to feel better? Sunset is twice the game Fuse ever was, it's actually unique and very fun to play whereas Fuse was generic, bland and boring. Also, last time I checked, 1080p never made a game fun. It didn't make Knack, Driveclub, or Killzone any more playable... I've had far my fun with Sunset, Killer Instinct and Titanfall, all which are sub 900p games. 1080p has never made me turn on my PS4 over my X1, ever.

BTW have you even actually ever played Sunset? It's a gem.

You sound like someone who hasn't played it, or has played it for a total of 20 minutes. You can't even list any actual gameplay issues or problems. It's an open world shooter with crazy over the top guns and one of the best and most fun traversal systems ever made. It doesn't suck, the majority of critics and gamers disagree with you.

If you had actually played it I would consider your opinion. You keep saying ugly but I guess that's a matter of opinion as I think Sunset is actually a pretty game that makes solid use of the console hardware. It renders a lot on screen, and it looks great doing it.

Go play the game and then we can have a proper discussion about what it does right and wrong.

The game was a ton of fun in my opinion. Don't care about sales as I'm glad I got to play it. Online is fun too.

I want to play this game, but i'm waiting for a goty edition.

Although, it does have a sort of try hard vibe for the humor and i'm not a big fan of the character design, but it looks fun :p

Sunset Overdrive does look boring, but I'm certain you would be singing a different tune if it was on PS4.
