Hyped games that you think will blow.

I'll start.Mass Effect: Another KOTOR. Bunch of dialogue, 'personality quiz' gameplay, weak combat. Oh, but teh graphics!MGS4: I'm surprised how popular this series even is. I figured you really have to be a certain kind of gamer to enjoy MGS, i.e the kind who doesn't enjoy playing, but does enjoy 10-40 minute cutscenes every few minutes. Oh well, I suppose if you find the whole pseudo-coherent drug induced plotline interesting, you'll gladly buy all the sequels to the movie... er, game.Fallout 3: Alright, I'll admit I never played Fallout. All I know is it's from the same people who made Elder Scrolls, a series that, since the original Morrowind, been plagued by a dreary, sterile atmosphere, boring combat, and lack of focus. The open-endedness falls short trying to emulate the freedom of the real-world, in that everything looks the same, feels dead, and the only value in exploring it is realizing that 'yes, you can go there.' I'd be happy to know how Fallout seperates itself from this.Heavenly Sword: Most non-PS3 fanboys will agree that this simply looks like a God of War ripoff, and besides prettier graphics and a 'stance' mechanic, it hasn't shown any evidence that it's not. I'm a huge fan of hack n' slashers, but I have no idea why this is hyped to the extent that it is. It's just so generic. Probably just a much needed showcase of PS3's hardware, particularly with tons of crap happening on screen.No More Heroes: Well, I've watched the videos, I've read the previews. I must say that it's ugly as hell. I mean, typically games show either good art direction or technical prowess, and this game has neither. I saw a guy get sliced in half vertically like a piece of paper (it actually looked like he was made of paper). From what I've seen, most of the game is 1 on 1 sword fights that look non too exciting. The voice acting is also terrible. I realize people didn't expect much from Killer 7 either, but unless they deliver something totally different from what the previews are showing, I call this a flop.This is what I can think of at the moment.

Hey, I'm not trying to "kill" a franchise here with Fallout. But obviously they'd be following a good formula. Oblivion was a great game.

Actually they will be the growth of the series, but the death of what makes them good.

True, but there is another Deus Ex game coming so it is still "growing", hopefully they can turn things around this time. I guess your kind of right though.

Hey, I'm not trying to "kill" a franchise here with Fallout. But obviously they'd be following a good formula. Oblivion was a great game.

In contrast though, it was only a shadow of its prececessors. This has happened to countless franchises that make the leap to consoles. Some may think they're great games, but when you put them up against their ancestors, they are mere shadows. Poor Inivisible War, TES, Fallout, Rainbow Six, etc.

Warhawk, Heavy Rain, Stanglehold, Uncharted, No More Heroes, COD 4, Bioshock (wont blow, but i wont like it) are a few.

How can you put the blame on the consoles though? Morrowind worked fine on the xbox, they didn't have to casualise it like they did with oblivion for it to work.

Metroid Prime 3. It will be like 2 in nearly every way gameplay wise and will just be another shooter with no online.Wasdie

Problem is... its not a shooter... and there have already been tons of new doors opened (pun intended) thanks to the Wiimote and Nunchuk. Even though it may be your opinion, I and many others am pretty sure it will not blow, especially after Retro having spent nearly 10 months polishing and perfecting the game to meat Satoru Iwata's challenge of "make the game match or exceed the Twilight Princess experience."

The title of the topic was "Hyped games that YOU (ME) think will blow" i answerd the topic honestly, i never said they will flop from a score perspective, i just think they will all suck, no infact i know they will suck for ME!

Fallout 3 will blow no matter how much hype it receives. It has been Bethesda'd.

Mass Effect, Heavenly Sword and No More Heroes look like they are going to be great games.foxhound_fox

I don't understand what everyone has against Bethesda. They make high quality comprehensive games. Not every thing about them might be suited to everyone's liking but what they do, they do well. For example, Oblivion is a great whether it reached everyone's expectations or not. It is not perfect, but it doesn't have to be, and for some reason, that is what everyone expected of them after Morrowind (which wasn't perfect either).

Wii: GOTY: None, the Wii has taken the Depth out of gameplay, which makes it so enjoyable I play games and I get lost in the game, I play a Wii game and I can quit at any time.
