It is called the Focus - a relic from the Old Ones. It is an augmented reality computing device that you have the entire game. It has a ton of uses but one of them is forecasting the machines' paths (it doesn't work on humans). You can see the paths of all machines in your view or you can tag a single machine. Knowing a machine's path allows you to either stealthily avoid the machine or set a trap in it's path.

He trashes TW3, trashes console gamers and "their" type of game, and then goes on to assert that SKYRIM is a DEEP game. Give me a goddam break. Skyrim has some redeeming qualities, but it is LITERALLY the shallowest of its OWN series of games. It is the poster boy for the wooden interactions and repetitive and generic NPC models and shallow interactions that he makes fun of. There is no element of thoughtful environment traversal, and the combat couldn't be more straightforward and simple. I'm not saying Horizon is BETTER (haven't played it), but Skyrim... look, I realize a lot of people love that game, and I put about 100 hours into it myself. But he picked a pretty bent stick to use as a tentpole for his arguments.

@bmanva: PS4 does have some games I'd like, but not enough to warrant a purchase in my eyes. And the games on XB1/PS4 are pretty similar, whereas Nintendo games are a little different.

Good review. Saved me 90 bucks. Honestly I had my concerns as the praise for this game was not matching what I have been seeing on YouTube so far.

1. Silly robot animals thing is off-putting.

2. Far Cry formula has been done to death at this point.

3. Too easy rolling combat.

4. Sand box reanse and repeat gameplay.

5. Hand holding and huge map markers that tell you what to do and when.

Sorry. I am done with games like that. Mad Max, Witcher 3 , GTA, Far Cry, etc. The genre is over saturated with shallowness at this point.

It's spot on... absolutely.

I'm convinced most people don't want to actually play their games anymore.. because this is mediocrity at its finest, another prime example of people will be happy with any old s*it if its pretty enough to justify a console for.

Finding the story a bit underwhelming. Don't like the setting/story so far. About an hour in but, it is what it is. Graphics are mostly lovely, although the water looks like paste glue.

I love the worth a buy series. The guy shits on pretty much every game and it's wonderful.

I'm loving the game so far. Horizon is like a fun and interesting version of The Witcher 3.

An hour? Give it another hour or so. The story and setting are great imo.

@aigis: most of it is your pretty standard cynical tuber critic fare, picking at all the nits he can to be "the other voice". And they have a ring of truth to them, as these cynical critiques tend to do. But in the final minute or so the brakes fail and his train goes off the rails a bit (in an amusing way)

If the game was on pc he'd be positive. If the game was a pc exclusive he'd be calling it as the second coming. I love his stuff, he's funny (especially his gears 4 review lol). But you're not supposed to take his "reviews" seriously.

Really cheap and poorly done gameplay -- you stand in the middle of a crowd and yet the baddies only target you.

Battle against "the demon" you and numerous other NPC's yet "the demon" only targets the player.

Nothing at all to do with the fact the player is dealing most damage to the demon who then decides that's his main target. Nah, **** all that 'thinking' shit. I think we need to set up a GS Mental Cases Unit and explain really simple shit to really simple people. Service to the community type of thing.

My impressions as a manticore and actually owning a PS4 and owning the game is, this is a dam good game. It's basically a low budget tomb raider reboot. If you liked the TR reboot or ROTR you'll like this game. Is it a master piece and a perfect game? hell no. but it doesn't suck. It's a little below TR but as of right now for me it's about an 8.5/10 but I'll update when I beat it

SOME of what he said is is true but it's over exaggerated nit picks. And really if anyone thinks the combat is repetive it's there own fault.

The gameplay is a mixture of Vanquished, Assassins Creed, Skyrim, Monster Hunter, Tomb Raider, Far CRy Primal but unltimately has it's own style and charm.

Overall Horizon has many qualities you can't get anywher else. It marries Gameplay Graphics, Animation, Music, Story Sound and Preformance like no other game this gen. When people look for flaws and over exaggerate you know the game is dope. Haters gonna hate.... LOL

What makes it worse, is that it kills them ALL ... they just keep running into it.

But no, we know why this is getting praised, not because of the action, but because of the graphics as usual.

I wish I could be entertained by that... maybe life would be alot simpler.

I really enjoy this game. I agree with the reviewers on this one. It has a great story, with a great presentation, and that counts for a lot. I like the gameplay, fighting the machines is awesome. Fighting people is a bit buggy, and you can tell it wasn't prioritized, but that's ok, since it's a small part of the game. The side quests are also very good, and doesn't feel like a chore. The gameworld looks awesome, and not just the graphics, but how the map is made. The total package is just so good.

I am a person that has a hard time getting past 3 hours of the game if the story doesn't pull me in, like in Far Cry 4, and that is a good looking game on PC.

But in this, the story and presentation pulled me right in, good job GG.

In your dream maybe, but in reality your ps4 is a pile of junk compared to my pc.
